I think the wideouts read our thread about Torry Holt....it must have shaken their fragile confidence...I heard they are all huddled in a corner crying for their mommy.

Kelly came to the Skins "pre-injured". He did not need to play in an actual NFL game to incur those problems.
Everyone knew he had had knee problems in college. The Skins took a chance that he was over them. Clearly he was not.

Re: No Redskins WR have attended 1st 2 days of workouts
I mean, i understand medicine is far from an exact science, but i would like to believe an NFL franchise would employ the services of the best minds in sports medicine to determine the severity of a "preexisting" condition such as Kelly's. With the value of the resources invested, not to mention the staggering opportunity cost, I'd want a very clean bill of health for my 1st and 2nd round prospects as a team's GM... incidentally this is one reason I think Orakpo is the biggest risk in this years draft, especially as a top ten pick.

Re: No Redskins WR have attended 1st 2 days of workouts
If it isn't mandatory some people aren't going to show up. If I were Thomas especially, I would show up even if there wasn't anything for me to do. I would go out on the atroturf field and practice field goals in case our regular kicker get hurts. I would sleep on the couch in the players lounge. I would take a dump in La Canforas briefcase. Anything. Something.

If we used DT as a KR and possibly PR i think we'd be close(r) to getting our value for him...

For the record, I'm still very confident Kelly will be our top receiver one day. Just not surprised by the fact that we took a health risk before any other team.

Re: No Redskins WR have attended 1st 2 days of workouts
I don't know about totally overvalued, most teams had him as the first or second WR in the draft last year. He was the 2nd WR drafted so how was that overvalued?

GTripp is still upset because he was ranked so high after only one year of college production. For some reason he also has a hard on for guys that have the most college starts.
Not that I blame him...I just don't completely agree. |

Could some of them be training offsite--say in Arizona with McNabb's crew?

Re: No Redskins WR have attended 1st 2 days of workouts
This is straight off my unedited 101 top prospects from last April. Before Vinny's mistake.
I took off all the non-WR/TEs as not to abuse the list. The number should roughly correlate to the value for the player in terms of draft pick, obviously. 19. John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame 34. Limas Sweed, WR, Texas 35. Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue 38. Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan 43. DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal 49. James Hardy, WR, Indiana 53. Martellius Bennett, TE, Texas A&M 61. Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma 69. Early Doucet, WR, LSU 73. Donnie Avery, WR, Houston 76. Fred Davis, TE, USC 80. Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State 87. Eddie Royal, WR, Virginia Tech 90. Jerome Simpson, WR, Coastal Carolina I do feel today that James Hardy is going to end up being a bust. I feel I made a mistake putting him on the list. But there were 4 players who had excellent rookie years in my top 60 or so, and two more excellent rookie years in guys I gave a third round grade to. So to say there wasn't a better option out there at No. 34 than DT, well, then you just don't understand the draft. Of course there were better options out there. Vinny gambled and lost. That's just the way I see it.
