Tell that to New England with their center at 296. And that's the problem - you aren't really going to have that decision.

Like I said, if you have a "problem", where deciding between one good lineman and another - then you don't choose, you play both.

So if you have to decide between 2 good centers with the same skill set but one is 27 lbs. bigger than the other, you play both? How do you do that? I think somehow you misread my post. I'm not going to play 2 RT's either just because they have the same skill set. Neither one is going to be as good as my LT.

Look, if you have one center that is effective in playing well as another, then their weight and height don't really matter does it.

It only matters if the bigger guy plays better.

If they're the same in talent, usually the bigger guy WILL play bigger. Especially against a 340 pound nose tackle. What is it YOU don't understand?

That's the whole argument here. That's not what is accepted. Why is the smaller center starting in New England?

... and if they play equally effective, one doesn't play better than another - they're equal!

Smaller than who? Do you really think they have another center who is just as good but bigger? Who is he?

The point is - bigger is not always better.

Re: OM FIELD: Redskins OL - Tale of the Tape

I'm not trying to overlook anything. If a player isn't very good and doesn't possess the proper skills for the position, you don't take him no matter what size he is. But there are some very good players who are bigger than what we've been using, the size of these guys are getting bigger all the time. At all positions. It's becoming increasingly harder to handle the nose tackles in this league. If you can increase the size of your o-line without sacrificing talent, I'm all for it.
