I think we're looking at it from the wrong way when we point out he was giving up 7 million. That was a totally non-guaranteed sum of cash, and had he gotten hurt in camp with a two month injury, we could have cut him and not payed him a single dime of his salary. This wasn't quite like Lavar giving the team money to buy his freedom. He wasn't a lock to make the roster anyway, especially if he wasn't going to show up for OTAs (and even if he did).

It was a contract extension he signed way back in 2004 (I think), and he had already earned almost the entire value of the contract with his play. If he hadn't gotten traded to us, he wouldn't have seen last year's $7.5 million either. It's clearly not money he was expecting to make, and the fact that he could have possibly made it if he busted his ass during the offseason, and we could have still denied him the money, it probably wasn't worth the money to string it out in the hopes of a big payday after Week 1.

Although he did have a roster bonus we would have paid a few days after we released him. That was a big sticking point in the negotations. It was, "hey, come to some sort of an agreement with us, or we're going to cut you and you wont see any of that". No agreement = he was cut.

He can just sign a one day contract if he wants to do that. He doesn't need to play for a year with them to do that.

Beat me to it. B Mitch did the same.

Oh Jason Taylor resigned with Miami ? Should we be upset ? F him. He's gone and now he's not a Redskin anymore. That's all I need to know. A "mistake" was removed and we should be thankful. It was a 2 draft pick mistake, but so what. It happens, teams mess up and we as fans stick by them if we choose to. I had high hopes when he got here but since he has moved on, I wish him well in his future endeavors.

The "punishment" by the league : "It's like getting a ticket for going too fast on a road a week ago and they changed the speed limit today"

Seriously, who cares.

I guess the Skins are the only team in the league that have moves that don't work out.

Well it's not that other teams don't make mistakes. It's just the mistakes our FO makes are retarded as hell. The smart thing to do was not to panic and let Evans play. That 2nd round pick could've been used on a potential quality starter.....perhaps at RT. But there is nothing anyone can do about it now and it's time to turn the page on this one.

Yeah, I kinda forgot about that. But just because I'm not willing to be proven wrong, perhaps he wants to actually play his final year with the Dolphins.

Well if I recall correctly a pretty large majority of fans approved of the move at the time. If he doesn't get hurt things could have turned out much different.

Retarded moves happen all over the league not just with the Skins.

Or it's just that we are more closely attuned to these and don't give a hoot when another teams fan base is just as upset about a move or non-move their teams FO makes.

Lets face it, for good or bad, this FO is going to be aggressive in trying to make this team a contender. Sometimes that will be a great move like MW or bringing JG back, sometimes it will backfire like JT's signing. The only thing we can be sure of is that they are not going to sit on their hands and moan about the condition of the team. Hopefully, each move that backfires teaches DS a little more about football ownership, and that he will learn enough that when he gets to be Al Davis' age he's not grasping at straws.

I'm glad someone pointed this out! When JT came last year everybody, including almost all the local commentators and national NFL analysts, applauded the move! Most people thought that getting a future HOF one year removed from being a defenvise POY for a 2nd round pick was a deal! The Fins were asking for a 1st+ leading up to the draft. Now, after he gets hurt and underperforms, everyone has about-faced and is calling the FO stupid for the move....hypocrisy anyone? It didn't work out people...get over it!

Thanks Matty for trying to speak some sense to the nay-sayers and jaded "fans"!

So if the national media is stupid about, and later, hypocritical of our front office, that makes dumb moves okay?

Nothing like bad excuses to bad moves.

Re: Jason Taylor to re-sign with the Dolphins

A couple of people weren't crazy about it. But the majority loved the move. Plus some that didn't like it felt that way because they thought Taylor was too old to have any true impact anymore and that he was due for a drop in production (which happened of course), so I guess they think he'll flop in Miami too right?

I don't know if flop is the right word. I think he'll match his sack total from last year. Which at the cost they are paying for him, is pretty good.

But yeah, his days as a top player are over, it looks like.
