What if this was just a regular Joe who makes 60k a year? She wouldn't file a civil suit. She would've went to the cops. That's why this is just so shady. A millionare rapes me, I wait a full year and then file a civil suit. I'm not buying it.

I'm not sure I agree. People file civil suits against "average Joes" for battery, sexual assault, etc., you just don't hear about it because they're "average Joes." Moreover, many of those suits are filed well after the incident giving rise to the suit took place. That's why in many jurisdictions, you have several years to bring this kind of suit. To say that anyone who files a civil suit against anyone making any kind of money 6 months or more after the incident took place is a liar, whore, con artist, etc. isn't really reasonable IMO.

I've known at least one woman who was sexually assaulted who went back and forth about contacting police. It was a very emotional experience for her and I understand why she didn't immediately go to police.

Again, I'm not saying she is telling the truth, I am just saying we shouldn't pass judgment based on an article or two we read in the press.

I agree with you 100%. I have had a friend who was assaulted as well and it is not always an easy thing to admit. However there are some women out there who also do cry wolf in hopes to make a few bucks. It is a travesty that the actions of a few ruin it, or make it harder for those who are truly going through something like this.

I really hope this did not happen, I like Ben and think he is an upstanding guy.
Time will tell and the truth will be revealed.

The funnier thing about the PFT reporting is that they are spending more time complaining that ESPN hasn't reported than reporting the damn story. If you have a legitimate, strong story you don't want or need any other news organizations backing you up or running the story also. You want to stand alone, again if it's a legitimate story.

Maybe Ben found her attractive. While her face is not something I would say is pretty, some others may think otherwise or simply not care.

I care more about the tapes in the hotel room and their current state of existence in Florio's summary of her complaint. If they are indeed found and the incident did take place, then sorry Big Ben...

I don't think anyone is discarding the allegation. It's true that these things are sometimes brought up at a later date, for various reasons. It's also true that false allegations are made all the time. I don't neccessarily believe her given the limited information I have, but that's just my opinion. If Ben's guilty, I wish her the best in her pursuit of any kind of justice she can get.

Many famous guys have been caught in these situations or similiar ones. I hope Ben didnt do it but to say he didnt just by going off of the looks of the woman is not really evidence that he didnt.

Many rapes go unreported, that doesnt change what it is. the woman usually feels like she will be made to look bad by the man,especially one in a star status like Ben. im not sayin he did it but to go off of her looks or the time she took to come out really doesnt prove anything.

I'm riding with Jsarno on this one. It's one thing to, after having done some research regarding the case, point out that there are a few considerations that cast doubt on her accusation. In this case there appears to be. However, it is another entirely to in a knee-jerk manner write her off as just another skank. The fact is that, while women do make false allegations in this country, it is overwhelmingly more likely like for a man guilty of rape to walk free. There are many reasons for this - women's reluctance to follow through on charges, difficult evidentiary burdens of proof - but a large one is the presumption that exists amongst many that a purported victim must have wanted it somehow, that she must share at least some of the blame.

We see that here in many of the conclusions that I believe were prematurely jumped to. So I guess I'm just not crazy about some of the language in this thread.
