Same Old Jerry!
Any national press attention is good attention. This is really a non-story. The center hung scoreboard height can be adjusted very easily (flip of a switch).
The problem is due to insurance regulations, the field has to be cleared of people to move it. So setting the height or changing the height has to be done at a slow moment. The NFL and plastic surgery puss boy Jerry have to agree on a new (higher) game time height. Jerry will be a bitch about it.

I would ALMOST say...I dont want to hear any bashing Danny boy here for awhile. Snyder would never make some of these idiotic comments that JJ is spewing from his tail end. The ego of Jerry Jones is incredible, how did a man so ignorant make so much money?

I am so happy that everyone who follows the NFL (outside of Dallas) is laughing at Jerry and the Cowpies today.

I thought the EXACT same thing when I first saw it. I bet a lot of people thought of that but we all assumed the same thing.

The league should make a rule that if the opponant hits it, then the home team is penalized in some way. This is a simple fix, you take it down! If you don't, and you interfere with play, then you will be hurt by it.

Exactly. Their punter will have an unfair advantage as he will punt there 50% of the time and any other punter no more than 12.5% during the regular season.

They will learn how to punt around it.

The do-over rule is like a double fault in tennis. You put all your heart into that first serve and will invariably take something off the 2nd try.

Jerry is a laughing stock.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Re: Problem w/ Cowboys giant screen.

I don't get why this is such a big deal. Yeah, kinda funny to see a punt bounce off of it every so often, but to call the stadium a fail? Lame. I hate the Cowboys and (some of) their fans just as much as anyone, but the stadium looks absolutely awesome. I wish FedEx was that incredible. Those screens are sick. It's all to NFL spec, and until the league says something, the punters just have to deal with it. Kinda like rain, sunshine, heat, poor turf, etc etc.

But the punters should not have to deal with it. The stadium exists for the sake of the game, not the other way around.

I would argue that the situation, if unrectified, puts Dallas at a disadvantage in two ways:

1) punting redos benefit the receiving team, as the coverage team will be more winded for the redo. Given that Dallas will face that situation more than other teams, we might see Dallas give up an extra number of big returns. This remains true unless Dallas punters learn to kick around the screens, which brings me to my second point:

2) if Dallas punters learn to kick around the screens, that will reduce their effectiveness. They will learn to have less hang time. They will learn to direct punts away from the screens rather than to the most strategic locations.

You can be sure that once the Cowboys figure this out, they'll raise the screens.

Are you serious? This is like building the best NBA stadium of all time and the basket is fixed at 9 feet.

If you spend $1.2 BILLION on a place to play football, isn't the first priority to make sure that the structures do not interfere with the game? There is no excuse for an error like this. It isn't like a football had never hit the top of a stadium before. The bottom line is that he wanted his TV and did not care if it was in the way or not. He had an unlimited budget for his entertainment complex and chooses to ignore the basic needs. I am sure that it is great for concerts and watching HD television but it is a total failure as a football facility.

No, it's not. A correct analogy would be if the field were only 90 yards.

They were given dimensions by the league. They met the minimum requirements. I don't consider that ignoring the basic needs.

The screens are still awesome.

You are absolutely correct that they met league requirements. But the league requirements are obviously incorrect. And for $1.2 billion, the Cowboys should have discovered this fact.

It didn't take long for a punter to prove Jerry Jones wrong. Titans rookie A.J. Trapasso bounced a ball of the Jerrytron during the third quarter.

If you thought Jerry Jones would react by raising the center-hung structure, well, you thought wrong.

Jerry pointed out that his $1.2 billion stadium was built to league specifications. He wouldn't even entertain the possibility of cranking the electronic monstrosity that holds the 60-yard big screens up a few feet.

You see, before construction could begin, the league had to approve the plans. And at several stages thorughout the construction, the league had to approve the plans. Without that approval, the NFL could not sanction games held in that facilty.

And the league liked the stadium enough to award it the 2011 Super Bowl, even before construction was half complete.
So the cowboys and there fans are ok with the embarrassment of this? wow. No wonder the owner/general manager is considered the biggest jackass of NFL
