Re: Sen. Ted Kennedy dead at 77

I'm struck by the scores of major legislation Kennedy introduced and ultimately saw passed into law. SCHIP, OSHA, minimum wage, and civil rights are a few that come to mind. I think more than any modern day politician, he found his place and voice in the U.S. Senate.

I swear, when someone dies, there should never be RIP thread because all people do is come and piss on it.

It doesn't matter who it is, Republican or Democrat, famous or not so famous, there's always a hater.

Why even post this? Just don't say anything if that's how you feel.

I'm sure Mary Jo Kopechne agrees with you. I'm just waiting for Sheets Byrd to drop dead now.

Why is the old bastard beyond reproach? I didn't like him in life. Why should I feel any differently now that he's dead? Isn't this what blogs are for, people posting about how they feel?

Did I say that? I'm not a fan of his current politics either, but you're just being flat out disrespectful. His body is still warm and you're ripping him a new one -bringing up Chappaquiddick, calling him a drunk and an old bastard? Come on.

If you hated him so much, why not quietly be happy he's gone? Sure blogs are about posting how you feel, but how about a little couthe?

I'm no fan of his politics either, and there is certainly a time to discuss/debate his legacy, good or bad. Now isn't that time. IMO his family should be at least allowed to mourn and put him in the ground before the insults start to fly.

This isn't a blog. A blog is something you write and maintain on your own. This is a discussion board with many diverse members and views, and at least out of respect to fellow members who have a positive view of Kennedy (who are also fellow Skins fans) maybe we could eliminate the negative comments in an RIP thread. No problem with voicing opinions, but maybe wait a few days and start another thread. FWIW.

Your probably right as far as out of respect for people here then I'll wait.

What if Bin Laden died? Would I have to wait a few days for that too? I've said my peace.

Apples and oranges buddy. To even draw that comparison is just stupid.
