I agree with you, it doesn't make sense to trade Monty.

Monty is a good young DT he would be starting material on other teams.
And unless we were given that type of value it wouldn't make sense.
By value i'm mean whatever the going rate is for starting caliber space eating 1 tech/DT.
And because of Hayneworth (and Monty's laziness??) he can't get that value because he doesn't start.

Losing Monty would also deplete the depth along the DL which is one of this teams strentghs.
Hayneworth is a beast he rarely if ever plays the entire season.
Having a solid rotation to keep him fresh is essential.
Trading Monty decreases the effectiveness of Haynesworth.

I agree. We need a solid rotation to keep the line "fresh" and I would only trade Monty if we received the proper value in return. Monty has the physical tools to be a solid tackle who can impose his will on the o-line. The knock against him has always been he's an underachiever. He's good enough to start, but he could be so much better.

what about the chance that a hungry guy like dixon would then most likely be on the team? wouldn't a guy like dixon be montys replacement? so we would get a draft pick and have a formidable dt in dixon ready to step in.

Good point. I wouldn't mind us trading Monty somewhere where they need some defensive help. For once I would like to see us stockpiling picks.

I like what GB said..."you got to be stupid not to realize the guy we just paid 100 million is going to start." Montgomery has no reason to be unhappy seeing how he's a decent player at best. I'm not even sure if he's a legit starter on the Skins without Fat Albert presence.

Stockpiling picks is a great thing! I for one think this team is doing a nice job of building a good core group of young players/ good veterans. Another draft pick would definatley help in that area.

My thoughts are --- compete. Win a job. Beat out Griffin. Show you can start.

I dont think people really understand my comments.

I simply was stating what other people have said about AH. I also agree with those things as I have seen them. Also our Dline/D has been below expectations, correct?
Not just versus NE.

If I say something critical about AH doesnt mean I think he is now a dud. But at the same time, I will look for these things during the regular season and see if they have been improved upon. I don't see what the problem is with this approach.

Well some folks have said that the defense has been very vanilla, so I hope that Blache has saved the best for the regular season. It would not surprised me one bit.

In regards to the NE game, Brady is a hard QB to pressure. Still, I think the team get some pressure during this game, plus we knocked him down once (not a sack, but I don't think we had many QB knock downs last season) . Also, I have noticed a lot of holding non-calls throughout the preseason (which makes sense if you are looking out for QBs), so I think we're going to see our defense knocking down QBs and causing opposing lines to draw holding penalties. And I do hope that we've seen the tip of the iceberg this preseason in regards to how disruptive our line can get.

I would rather keep Golston and Alexander, ship the unhappy fat ass.

Snap!!! No love for Monty in your corner eh. Seriously tho he's been a disappointment to be sure. Maybe he really does have the talent and ability but it's never really materialized. I don't know. Anyway I like the idea of keeping Alexander over Monty cuz he's more versatile and never ever mails it in...

Maybe if Monty stomps on the face of a Cowboy during a game he'll get some consideration to start opposite fat Albert and then we'll have two Puke-oid face stompers on the D line.

Depth at defensive line gives the coaching staff options of rotating players in and out, keeping key players fresh for important plays. Look at how the Giants are able to rotate defensive linemen and keep pressure up front. I'm looking for the same type of effect in Washington. Keep Monty.

Exactly, defense wins games. Imagine just the 4 DL men getting to the QB without having to send a LB or CB.

I guess I must have watched the first team D in the Pits game with Rose Colored Glasses because I thought we had preasure on Ben just about on every play. Now against the Pats it seemed like they did a good job of protecting Brady but he also does a good job of protecting himself by getting the ball out very quick.
