Danny may be perfectly happy with JZ for all we know and his voice is the only one that counts. I'm not saying that he is happy with Zorn, I'm saying that we don't know. Thus all of this "hot seat" speculation is a pointless waste of time until Danny Boy chimes in.

this is exactly it- its virtually a lose lose situation...yet the skins organization put themselves in this position. They price, market and sell themselves as an ELITE team with ELITE talent. Why is it unreasonable for us (as fans) to expect to see elite results? For over a decade now, they've paraded mediocre team after mediocre team in front of us all while trumpeting the same song and dance "we have the talent! we just need to execute!" When is enough, enough? when will it be acceptable for fans to demand progress? Do you get what I'm saying? Its not that we aren't patient, its just that after a decade of treading water, we are tired- how long before we drown?

when I wrote "posted on a different thread but applies here" i meant, if you read it, or dont' want to re-read it, skip it. its not like i'm trying to hide that fact... its not the difficult to skip it- but the fact is we have like 10 threads about the same topic...upset fans/zorn on the hot seat/upset players/detroit game, etc...sometime posts apply- I am sorry if it bothers you though- won't do it again but I don't see what the big deal is.

This actually isn't an "I'm Upset With Zorn" thread.

It is about the expectations Zorn was to have coming into his first ever head coaching job in the NFL.

Considering he was previously a QB's Coach and then elevated to Head Coach for the first time in his career what did the Redskins Front Office REALISTICALLY expect the success of Jim Zorn to be?...And are they allowing sufficient time to be successful?

(I think Zorn haters and apologists came in here and thought it it was business as usual by making it all about Zorn again.)

Let's be clear: Unless the wheels fall off, Zorn deserves this year to make it work for a variety of reasons. Beyond a fair shot, exactly what does the franchise do in the middle of the season? If Zorn is given his walking papers, you don't merely lose your head coach; you effectively lose your offensive coordinator and your quarterbacks coach, irrespective of how troubling the play-calling has been.

Yeah, that stood out to me as well. Even if the next month proves to us that Zorn isn't the guy, firing him in mid-season will only make us worse in the short term. IMO, unless he totally loses the locker room and is pacing for a 4 win debacle type of season, he'll get through all of 2009.

That would work out about the same way it did for the Wizards when they fired Eddie Jordan after eleven games. If Zorn is fired now, this season is history.

People are already lining up coaching candidates who are coming to DC next year.

For some reason everyone seems to be fine with that.
