Re: Chicago loses Olympic bid....
OK, so the Weekly Standard office didn't erupt into cheers after the Rio decision was announced right? Rush Limbaugh didn't say something to the effect of it being the greatest day of his life? Look, if you don't like Obama fine, but I do have a problem with the effort to call into question his every motive as informed by a deeper nefariousness. He didn't decide to go until it was clear that Chicago was going to win to cash in on the popularity and feed his ego is the claim? Funny considering everyone involved with the process is saying that Chicago never had a chance. I know US intelligence isn't what it used to be, but still. What about Oprah? Was she just cashing in too? Isn't she already popular enough?
Isn't it possible that Obama was just doing what he thought his duty was as head of state? Lobbying for a clear boon for the country, as well as the city he is most recently from? I don't think people in Brazil are criticizing Lula for doing exactly the same thing, going and lobbying for his country - which he did, obviously, to great effect. As for the Jesus-Obama line, Obama is in fact facing an insurrection amongst his base-supporters. While these people don't think he is a bad person per say, like Jim Corsi or Matt Drudge or Jsarno’s chain email letter writers or whatever else is being read here, they are strongly questioning his ability to govern, as am I. He is at a pivotal moment. His presidency is shaping up to be one of the defining disappointments of my adult life, right up there with the 06 Redskins and Star Wars The Phantom Menace. So, nobody thinks he's Jesus, that's a made up label to render irrational anyone who disagrees with the notion that he's the worst person and president of all time. Similar to the Jsarno argument: "since all smart people know Obama is a terrible president, is it possible for a smart person to think of anything he's done right?" There's a large segment of the conservative moment that seeks to go beyond disagreeing with the man's policies and delegitimizing his entire presidency: arguing that he's a communist, a Kenyan, a Klingon, or merely a megalomaniac on an ego feeding rampage. Meanwhile they gain pleasure from anything that can be spun as a loss for him, including cheering when their own country loses out on the Olympics - which is, I maintain, an absolute disgrace. |

But I do have to give props to Budw for having the courage to take on that liberal behemoth VH1. Their Grammy awards coverage has leaned left for years!

Re: Chicago loses Olympic bid....
Well , when Reagan was elected I was 16 and I did not follow politics then . Reagan did not run for public office until he was 50 , California Gov. RR believed all American should have an opprotunity to prosper , unlike the far left Dems who believe that " highly " educated Inlect's like themselves should < socialism > . . Socialism only works for the very wealthy and those who don't care ....

Re: Chicago loses Olympic bid....
There seems to be a huge gap between the way Chicago is perceived by Chicagoans and the way it is perceived by the rest of the world. They really thought people would be falling all over themselves to go there? The place is a dump. Bad food. Bad architecture. Bad people. And that presentation. Awful.
And the Olympics are completely retarded anyways. The Redskins don't even play in the Olympics. The IOC is mostly Eurotrash and there is something cringe inducing about a POTUS going begging in front of the likes of them. He must have owed Daley something fierce.

It's just the Olympics dude. It' not a war or anything. Also, it's a money loser (except for Richie Daley and his cronies) so we actually should all be exultant.

Re: Chicago loses Olympic bid....
DJ65 , I do not celebrate , like most Americans don't when we " lose " anything . M. Moore laughed at a hurricane hitting the USA and the left is pretty damn evil when things don't go there way , like spoiled little 5 year olds ...YouTube - Left vs. Right One Promotes Violence and the other Liberty and Freedom. 8 years of this lets not forget . How did the left react when Tony Snow came down with cancer ?

I think he went with good intentions and really decided at the last moment after being informed that his appearance would push it over the top. I don't see what's so wrong with that. And as far all of this being staged, I think every adminstration is guilty of that. This isn't unique to Obama. |

And for the record, I think Palin will win the GOP nomination and what a glorious day that will be. But she's yet to give a substantive interview or speech on policy, or articulate her general views and vision for America. Nothing. If Palin is thorough, thoughtful and can make her case before the American people over and over in different settings and venues, then the media will give her a fair shake. But if all she want's to do is rile up the base, have spats with bloggers, post drive by messages on facebook and twitter, and talk about how much she loves the troops as a diversion from the topic at hand she'll continue to get hammered. Fair or not. Bottom line, Sarah Palin is responsible for the negative perception she has created. No one else. Not the media, not Katie Couric, not Tina Fey. It's all on Palin. |

As far as Obama's merits, if I posted a list for you to see with your own two eyes, you'd simply discredit them one by one. So who are we fooling here. Besides, I really don't care to get into a tit for tat about what Obama hasn't done v. what he's done v. what he promised. If he's a flop, the American people will vote the Bill Ayers, terrorist, loving bum out the White House. Plain and simple. |

Re: Chicago loses Olympic bid....
Another innocent sports related thread turned "Political". This is what happens in all political threads.
First, a guy gets on his then people begin to . Then the when :, then everyone goes back and forth each other. Then another guy has to come in with his own which if you think about it it is really offtopic, but it doesn't matter because everyone is so at this point that rationalle just doesn't matter. Everyone just continues on with their , turning this site into nothing more than a written match. At this point all Matty can do is sit back and . |
