HUGE step in the right direction.

This has to mean Holmgrem is coming to town IMO.

The most rumored names were Bruce Allen coming on board full-time or Scott Campbell who already oversees the entire draft process being promoted to General Manager. (that's what I was hinting at when I said the other day we may not be looking to far for our next General Manager)

I'm stunned it happened so quickly quite honestly
When you say "oversees the draft process" what exactly does that mean. He wouldnt have any hand in trading the picks away that we do, or deciding who we take in the draft?

I mean I think in terms of the players that we actually take, we take pretty good players with the picks we have, we just at times dont focus on the right positions. Would he have had alot of input in what positions we have gone over the last few years?

Think of Campbell as sort of an offensive coordinator during the week. During the off-season, Campbell leads all the scouting efforts of college players, decides who will be interviewed at the combine (I think each team is limited to 50 players), what pro days to attend, ranking the different players under each position. Then on game day Cerrato, Zorn, and Snyder take over based largely on that info that Campbell leads the preparation of...now it's Allen instead of Cerrato of course.

I know this post was made a lot earlier in the thread but in regard to Scott Campbell, I heard that a lot of our late draft picks were to be credited to him. Of course at the same time we drafted no OL, so I take that with a grain of salt.

SmootSmack, in your informed opinion, does this raise or lower the chance that Jim Zorn is retained as head coach of the team?

I'd suspect it lowers

Okay, thanks for the info.

I'm not certain how I feel about that, but it makes sense that the new GM should pick his coach. I just hope we don't go GM & HC as one in the same.

I saw it on Mike and Mike and starting singing 'Oh happy day!!' That's got to mean, as speculated, that something is already lined up. Snyder doesn't make a move unless he's got the next one lined up..

Schefter coming up on Mike & Mike soon apparently. Messed up my morning, I had things to do but now my focus has shifted, lol!

This is the beginning of the sign I have been looking for from Snyder. His willingness to change.

This also probably spells the end for Zorn as well.

Spells the end for Zorn?

He was gone as soon as Lewis was hired.
