Bryant is a baller, and he's not the problem child he once was.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
Are you saying you want to enter 2010 with the same 5 WRs we have now? one would think ARE will be cut and we would need someone to replace him.

maybe someone like issac bruce or another aging, not in high demand vet whom we could sign to a low dollar 1 year contract. we really need someone to come in and show these young guys how to study, prepare and condition for an nfl season. i'm not sure ARE has that tutelage capabilities and im almost positive moss doesnt. having vet leadership serving as the no 5 wr on a 1.5 mil/1 yr contract would really help in my mind. a guy in his mid-30's who is willing to work with our youngings would be like another coach out there. bring in a guy like issac bruce with his rings and accomplishments and these young guys might listen to him more than any other person.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
Move Moss to the slot, make Kelly and Thomas the 2 starters. Give Mitchell more playing time

They may call it reloading but the next 2 years are rebuilding and we need to see the young guys catch passes past the LOS. If ARE is still here I will be suprised, but I don't want to see any action on a high-priced vetran (money/draft picks) until the OL/QB is solid. |

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
We've just finished witnessing one of the most horrendous season in team history. Everyone, everywhere have on more than one occasion identified what this team's basic need is. When that is addressed "first" I'd be more than willing to discuss players at any other position. Until then, my thought process is like Mike Ditka's was when he traded the Saints entire draft for Ricky Williams, we need to be thinking O-line, O-line and more O-line. Until the issue is resolved nothing else matters. Skilled players are rendered moot without an O-line. O-line anybody!!

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
I agree 100%, although i think mitchell could push kelly for the #2 slot. however, even in that scenario, we still need a fifth receiver.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
Hopefully ARE and Moss get traded cause they need to go. the only veterans I want in here would be Bryant and possibly Marshall. The thing with marshall is he is the baby TO and that wouldn't be good if we get a rookie QB.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
No WR's...we need better OL & QB play before we even know how good the WR's we have can be.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
If they have any trade value. Moss will get you more, but not much. I would be happy with a third rounder but don't think its likely. ARE might get us another vendor for the bathroom and a window washer. He did look like he was washing windows everytime he went back for a punt.

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
I do not want to see any moves made with the WR position other than internally. Our WR corps is fine and can be great.
Devin Thomas comes back healthy next year and needs to be the Starting Z, based on his performce late in the season I think that he earned it. Malcolm Kelly I believe should be ready to step into the X position if he can continue to do what he did last week. I have a feeling that Moss can be the best slot reciever in the league (better than Welker) we just need to put him there and get more production from 1 of the other 2. Many people do not like ARE because he is not a good return man. Like it or not he has some of the most reliable hands in the league. Look at the stats in the "Are we over rating our players?" thread. His agility also make him another legitimate threats out of the slot when we are 4 wide. Marko Mitchell is a nice prospect and provides depth at the X position if nothing else. On top of all of that we have two very good TE's. There is no need to give up anything to fix what isn't broke, especially if in the process it hinders our depth at another position. Where would the team have been when Cooley got injured if we didn't have Davis? I wouldn't want to imagine. Disclaimer: The positions listed above may not be the positions that players are currently listed at, they are the positions they should be playing based on size and skill set. |

I want five of the brightest, strongest, athletic and most disciplined players I can possibly find across my front, and five more to back them up if possible. On the defensive front they don't necessarily have to be smart, just give me eight guys for a rotation that on Sunday's will for four quarters hit somebody in the mouth and dare them to say anything. DB's who when the ball is in the air, have the attitude that it belongs to them. |

Re: Add a Veteran WR?
I agree with Angry for the most part here, but...
I don't like ARE because he can't do anything after a catch other than fall down. If he is our #4WR he is way overpaid and needs to be shown the door. |
