Yeah, no joke. And it was amazing how humorless Saban was about the whole experience.

Especially when there's more than enough reasons why he underachieved that had absolutely nothing to do with his coaching. His team was beset with almost as many injuries as we had. You know what they say NFL stands for.

CARROL? How can anyone be surprised that he will consider leaving USC?
Read the writing on the wall: If he stays, he essentially gets executed by brewing NCAA investigations into illegal recruitment and player misconduct going back 6-8 years. Let's go ahead and call a spade a spade like Bob Knight did about John Calipari. Carrol's going to skip town out of LA because it won't be for long that the last 5 years of wins and championships will be stripped from USC. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "nothing else to prove at the college level"

You'd think that grumpy bastard would crack a smile after the whole thing. I mean you just won the national title! Playing for him must really suck.

To me they're the same guy. Mora should go and coach college.

I can't figure out what the NFL sees in Pete Carroll. He was an average to below average coach in the NFL. Now just because he did a great job recruiting in college he is coaching royalty. Will he petition Goodell to allow him 10 1st round draft picks each year? I just don't see it with him. I am okay with him getting another opportunity but the way teams like court him every offseason makes no sense to me.

Mortensen is now saying it would be a surprise if Carrol wasn't Seattles next coach and Leslie Frazier has turned down an interview because he doesn't think he'd get a legitimate shot. He thinks it would be to just satisfy the Rooney Rule.

He said it was the intensity of it that bothered him.

I was surprised to learn that he was 33-31 as a head coach in the NFL. In fact he was 27-21 as the Patriots head coach. Fired after going 8-8 in his third year and replaced by Belicheck.

That's surprising to me too. I thought from all the negativity surrounding his NFL career he was way below .500. For what it's worth I think he'll do well in Seattle but their team is in dire straights talent wise. Old beat up bodies and never-will-bes all around.

I'd rather be the national champion with a less publicly enamored coach than not the national champion with a happy go lucky type guy.

Why? Either way you still are a champ. What is wrong with happy go lucky if you still win?

Some people just react differently man, no big deal. Remember Saban learned a lot from Belichick.
