Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
Honestly I think Malcolm Kelly has loads more potential than Thomas. Neither of these guys will replace Santana as the number 1, but I think Kelly will make a big name for himself and put up atleast 700-800 yards this upcoming season. Chris Cooley is gonna put up a great season with a combination of good blocking and 3rd down receptions. Reed Doughty will continue to play like he has been and get a chance to start all year and really help with any missed tackles up front.
I truely do believe that Rocky will be the most improved. He's still very young and has just started to create a name for himself and I see him doing great things at the inside linebacker position. He's got everything except that huge size to take out the run but we've got a guy name London Fletcer and Albert Haynesworth to worry about that right? So we'll see what happens, but any guess is really safe at this point. |

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
I hope the article is spot on but some conclusions are a little weak.
I mean everyone one hopes Kelly breaks out. In college he had great hands and a knack for creating separation. He's struggled mightily in the NFL mostly because of injury, but that means he's further back on the curve compared to Devin. If Devin is REALLY putting the time and effort in he will make us all love the offense again (single-handedly). Laron will be an even bigger liability at SS and like other (wiser) folks have said it means we sit Doughty and/or Horton who are great value players for us. Laron misses tackles and avoids contact so he'll give up huge plays at SS...his value is roaming the backfield and keeping QBs from connecting w/ their WRs. He's been a step or two late more often than not so now for him to regain "respect" by opposing offenses he would have to pick off a handful of passes. Basically I think Landry's value just continues to decline so it's best to trade him sooner than later. Orakpo will be awesome no matter what. Rogers could respond well to the new regime and especially if he feels respected again...though it won't translate into INTs. Rinehart is a question mark, no?

Watch the video. 25 sec in Turner puts the smack on Landry, which dictates the rest of Landry's game. At 2:10 Landry embarrasses himself, the franchise and the sport w/ his bullshit sideline hit. At 3:38 Turner gets the call up the gut and Landry has an open shot, instead he AVOIDS CONTACT and dives to the turf. I agree w/ you Landry takes bad angles; however we disagree on the reason.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
LaRon Landry's play and confidence plummeted under Zorn's horrible coaching staff. Since G. Williams left, the secondary and Landry took the biggest hit when they lost their vocal leader. They missed Williams on the sidelines barking out the secondary changes on the fly right up the snap. It was missing a respected (sometimes hated) leader that ensured the players were playing the proper technique and disciplined play.
Bringing back that confidence in the way our DB;s play is the key. I am not talking run your mouth confidence/cockiness, I am talking about the players being confidant in where they are supposed to be, in what in what they are doing and the ability to rely on each other. That was all lost under Blache/Zorn. With a new attacking scheme and a much improved coaching staff, LaRon and our secondary has the biggest chance to show immediate improvement without adding another player. Our secondary has the talent to be much better than what they showed the last two years. The Landry and Rogers haters will be surprised. |

LaRon doesn't avoid contact, he avoids tackling. It is as if tackling is beneath him.

This one's a little out of the box, but Rex Grossman. I don't expect him to beat Campbell for a starting job, but as he gets older and matures I think he's naturally going to gravitate towards making smarter decisions. I bet he pushes Campbell in the preseason.

My guess is Shanny will bench Jason at some point this season. When Jason gets out of rhythm he's almost totally ineffective. Shanny has nothing invested in him and won't hesitate for a second to give the "next best" guy a shot. Right now no way to tell if that's Rex or Colt.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
I'm not sure about the JC numbers I'm seeing. I think he will throw more TD's this season with improvement from the OL, however with more passing attempts will come more chances for picks. I'm thinking 27 TD / 16-19 INT's. Not solely all on JC, but the WR's are still improving, and he'll be facing another playbook to learn.

Re: Five Redskins Most Likely To Improve
Laron only avoids tackling because if he performs too well they'll ask him to more autograph signing events.
