Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

He's finished. Portis is on a mission to prove people wrong. He's far better. The same applies to LJ, who has far less mileage on him than Westbrook. Parker may even be better than Westbrook at this point.

I'd pass. He's consistently been an injured player. I won't even call him an injury risk, because it's a lock he'll get hurt, every year.

Westbrook somehow passed a physical in St Louis in late April. They're still interested and he'll probably go there...he may not have any other options to choose from.

When healthy Westbrook is the more complete back. And since his role wouldn't be full time I could see BW playing a few more years and not making a hissy fit about it. CP is not going to be quiet about being a part time back.

He hasn't made any noise about it so far. What is going to change?

Cause it's May. Wait til a few games have been played and he'll be throwing someone under the bus if he's not getting the ball. No way this team is going to keep both CP and LJ.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

I think this is a great idea...just like someone suggested an older WR helps out in training camp...specifically with running routes and playing Defense, Westbrook would certainly show when to release from the backfield.
McNabb to Westbrook is one of the greatest West coast QB/RB tandem in history...to show how that is done in practice is priceless...even if he doesn't make the team...imagine Roger Craig and Montana together showing a new team how it is done in training camp....

And think about this....yeah, he is old...but if the guy gets 5-8 carries a game instead of 25...think of how much less wear and tear that is.
I actually think he could be one of the most ideal 3rd down backs in the league...his only question is health....but didn't we gamble on Mike Williams?
And just think..he was a "BUST".
Westbrook has played at the highest level and was easily the most dangerous offensive threat to a team that has gotten to the NFC championship 5 times.

There is no way the eagles would have done that without Westbrook...they didn't have the WR's and RB's to do that without Westbrooks versitality.

Remember...players individually sometimes flop when going to new teams...but it is the teamwork that creates champions.

I say go for it...screw it...keep 5 RBs if you have to....we certainly are going to need someone to be a quick target for a pass with a projected weak Oline.
Have you ever seen Shanny with heavy RB experience?...it is the opposite of his MO...for good reason...he is compensating for the oline...

GO FOR IT...sign Westbrook....risk is near ZERO!

At this point in his career BW is a 3rd down back which will probably help him stay healthier.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

Umm, why?

I presume Brian wants to be on the team with Byron but our back field is stacked with old guys, and I was hoping we could keep one of the new Rookie guys for the PS. Now unless he's being brought in to compete and all know they have a chance to be knocked off the team then I don't see why we need to bring him in. Bring him in and make sure from Portis on down they know the best RB's will be on the team. Maybe Portis will work harder knowing that even though he's got a nice pretty contract, it doesn't mean squat.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

I would welcome this move. Weird as it may seem to have BW and DM in Washington, we would have some winners on our team. Guys who know what it takes to win in the NFC East. Good mentors for this club. We didnt have any of those guys on this club last year. There are guys here who want to win, but they haven't. This club is prime tobreak out of that mold.

I am so ready to be proud to be a Redskins Fan again.

Bringing in Brian is a wierd mesage to send to 3 proven NFL backs and some young guys. Now I know the three headed tandem back there has something to prove, but this could be a 3-4 headed monster awaiting to waken. I could see this being one of the greatest Backfields in NFL history.

But I calm my enthiusiasm for a bit. There are strong possiblities here though.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

This is just my opinion but I think CP is going to get cut sometime within the near future. Otherwise why bring in/ look all these high profile backs? As soon as CP doesn't get his carries he's going to be a total cancer, as will LJ so one of these guys is going to go. My guess it's CP.

^ Winning could cure all attitude problems. I don't see Portis getting cut this year.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

I imagine "Hissy Fit" is considered a negative personality trait in Shanny's mind?

Adam_Schefter

One of the more intriguing training camp questions will be not only which RB starts for Redskins, but which ones don't make roster. about 1 hour ago via UberTwitter

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday

I'm not going to put him in the backfield just yet, but if they want to bring him in for discussions of some type there's nothing wrong with that.

Unless there's a plan unseen I can't imagine how he would fit into an already crowded space. You just can't be sure about what you're getting with him anymore. When he was healthy and on his game, he's a player I would love to have.
