Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
Considering the coaching staff I would go with Palmer....I think he pairs up well with Shanahan(both of them).

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
On a side note under the news section they have the Skins bringing in Tyrod Taylor? Ummm, why? just for a looksie? I don't see him being any good for our system either and if I recall during their bowl game the announcers even mentioned he's a bit small and probably should look to change to the WR spot. I could see us using him in a Wild Cat situation but I don't foresee the Shanahan's going that route.

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
That whole list is depressing.
Kolb may have the most long term upswing but I dont want any more QB's with Iggle stink on them. I'd go with Vince Emo Butthurt Young and hope he doesnt wig out again.

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
The way I see it:
Bulger: A shell of his former self, can't do anything without a line. Makes Todd Collins look like Usain Bolt Hasselbeck: Well, remember I'm assuming neither McNabb or Grossman are here. In that case, Hass is a decent stop gap for a couple of years. But are we looking for yet another stop gap? I'm not, though I can see the argument for say drafting Ponder and sitting him for a year, while a guy versed in the WCO like MH can't take over for a year, I'd prefer that we just go with our guy for the next several years (hopefully) beginning this season. Kolb: We can't afford him, and I'm not sure he's shown enough for the price anyway Palmer: He falls somewhere between Hasselbeck and Bulger in my mind. So take all those guys out and that leaves Alex Smith and Vince Young. Between the two of them, I can see benefits to both. I think Smith needs a change of scenery (and to stay healthy), but he's still young, well respected by teammates and coaches, and has shown (granted in relatively small doses) that he can play at a high level. On the other hand, will a change of scenery even do him any good? Then you've got Vince Young who is in many ways the exact opposite of Smith. No real problems on the field, but off the field is another question. I feel like I know more what I'll get from Young on the field, but worry that his psyche (sp?) can't deal with everything off the field (including in the locker room and on the sidelines). So now that has me leaning toward Smith

I don't think Smith will ultimately be released, he may be traded but not released. I don't trade for him. Young, no way. Not mentally tough, too much drama, too much unpredictability with this guy. I'd go into the pre-season (if we have one) with Grossman, Beck, rookie. I don't grab QB before the 3rd or 4th round in this years draft. Work on the DL, OLB & OL this off-season and trade back/stockpile picks if possible. Work on QB next year. The upcoming season will be a struggle and we're unlikely to make the playoffs, begin the true rebuilding now.

Shanny doesn't want to rebuild IMO that's the vibe I get when I read his quotes or his interviews

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
If we had to take one: Vince Young.
But, signing a FA QBs smacks too much of win now for my taste. I'll go with a win soon plan. Open competition in training camp or give John Beck, yeah John Beck, a legit shot at being the QB for Burgundy and Gold outright. Focus top draft resources on addressing: RT, RDE, NT Take advantage of the deep pool of middle tier QBs and draft 4th round prospect: Tyrod Taylor, Ricky Stanzi. Maybe we get lucky and find our QB of the future if not the team has improved we've developed depth at the QB position and can look to further address the QB if need be next year with more valueable resources. |

Due to the signing of DM, I don't want to give/get anything from the Eagles.

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
My first option is retain Rex and let him qb for the next 2-3 years and get a qb in next years draft to learn under him.
However, with the parameters set, I'd like Palmer if there is a drafted qb this year or Alex Smith if not. I think Smith could be good in MS system and could be a 10 year solution.
