I've been watching this kid since he was in high school at Westfield. Trust me, him in this offense, can be special. He, not Roy Helu, will be the future back of the Redskins and the next Gary/Portis/Davis type of back out of shanahans system.

Re: Redskins 2011 Draftees

CDS Report on Gomes:

Strengths
Like teammate Eric Hagg, functions as a rover in Nebraska's 4-2-5 defense, and is critical to its success. Good size and well built. Tough and physical, with good quickness and change of direction skills. Attacks the run and tackles hard. Good instincts and shows up all over the field. Solid in man coverage and breaks up passes. Has lined up at LB, CB, in the slot and at both safety positions.
Weaknesses
Kind of a 'tweener; not a pure corner or safety. Stout and physical but not very large, and plays a very physical game, so there is a question over how long he will hold up. Likely a free safety or slot corner, but lacks top-end speed.
Projection
Tough, scrappy football player will make someone's squad as a fourth-seventh rounder. There is some debate as to what position he will play and some question his polish after playing only two years of major college ball, but he'll be nearly impossible to cut.

Leonard needs to tone it down a bit....but I like his confidence and I hope he's right.

Out of all the great backs that have come through PSU, who would've thought that Royster has more yards than anyone. Pretty impressive.
Plus he's a local kid. Gonna be rooting like crazy for this kid.

Re: Redskins 2011 Draftees

He's hella confident but it seems as though he wants to go out and prove it rather than just talk which is the perfect mindset for a receiver ... forgot about Shanny mining gold in the 4th round with Marshall, hopefully this pick yields the same results.

Hank might as well hurry up and get married. He already has two kids. lol

Seems like we drafted a very responsible fellow.

The more I read about Hankerson, the more I am glad that our FO drafted him. I cannot wait to see what he brings to Redskins team.

Helu looks like a home run threat. Team him with the bruising style of Torain and we may have a pretty decent run game in 2011.
When you look at Evan Royster's production at Pen State one could easily wonder how his accomplishments could go unwanted in the draft until round six where the Redskins gladly welcomed his services.

It's seems almost inconceivable that any team looking for a RB could for five rounds pass on a player that holds his school's all-time rushing record......3,932 yds. 29 TD,s
surpassing the likes of players like Lenny Moore, Curtis Enis, Franco Harris, Blair Thomas, Larry Johnson, Ki Jana Carter and others.

Re: Redskins 2011 Draftees

RBs have been so devalued. 10 years ago a talent like Royster probably goes 2-3 rounds higher IMO.
