If I had $335 a year spare then it would be a no-brainer for me, too. You have better finances than I do. Want to help a brother and pay for his Sunday Ticket?

SS, since you are into internet sports marketing, I have to give a shout for all of us who simply cannot afford Sunday Ticket. Even if I could afford it, it would be kind of a waste, since you can't watch all of EVERY game.

Instead it would be great if there were an a la carte model where I could pay to stream the games that I want. If I ended up paying $80 a year on the a la carte model, I'd go for it. And that is $80 a year that providers would have, whereas now they get nothing from me because $335 is just too expensive.

I realize that there are real knots in this suggestion, such as Directv's contract. But $80 a year from many consumers may end up financially outweighing $335 a year from fewer consumers.

I'm sure that you've approached all of this before because internet marketing is what you do. I just wanted to take the opportunity to cast a vote for the little guy.
As a fan I would love an a la carte model. But the professional in me has looked to figure out a viable business model for that, and it's not so simple.

I was afraid that you would say that. C'est la guerre.

It would be nice if there were some way to make it cheaper. The MLB and NHL packages are much cheaper than Sunday Ticket, although obviously different sports economies are at play.

Re: Sunday Ticket and PS3

For those of you not willing/able to shell out that kind of money for Sunday Ticket, the Redzone channel that NFL network offers is an amazing way to spend a Sunday. They show nothing but the most exciting moments live from every game going on at the time. And no commercials. Last year me and my roommates spent more than a few Sundays glued to the Redzone for 9 hours straight. Oh, and no commercials at all.

At $20 a game I don't know how it could be cheaper???? ALC would probably be like $30 or $40 a game. Look what WWE and UFC get for their crap on pay per view!

That to me is still a lot of money. I think when more options become available, we should hopefully see lower prices for access with increased competition.

Doubt the rates would ever go down.

I like the Al Carte idea and in my head i figured it be like 20-30 a game. does anyone really thing the NFL/DTV is going to offer games at $1 to $5 a game? IF so keep dreaming.

If you can put away $10 a week during the offseason you'll have enough to cover the ticket. Just sayin'.

You mean like how the MLB and NHL packages both are much cheaper?

What if the NFL gave rights to Dish Network, Comcast, and Time Warner along with Directv? The NFL could keep the same revenue stream by splitting the price four ways. Then each of the providers could offer the package at lower prices because they paid much less each for the rights.

Monopoly economics keep the price artificially high.

Re: Sunday Ticket and PS3

MLB and NHL also have a ton more games and let's be honest, a lot less demand.

Supply and demand buddy. MLB/NHL tons of supply (games) low demand. NFL low supply (few games) super high demand. End result $335 a year to see it out of market.
