Re: Viking release McNabb

Wow. I thought at least Chicago would put in a claim. I guess we'll see if anyone is willing to take him on a vet min deal [I]or/I] if he will be willing to play for the same.

Re: Viking release McNabb

Chicago could just straight up sign him now. I'm not sure what the contractual difference is (if any) between signing him as a true FA or claiming him off waivers

Not too surprised that no one claimed him off waivers. He comes late in the year with a hefty price tag. You can bet there are less costly alternatives out there.

All those teams that had injuries to QBs and still didn't claim him. Says a lot about his skills as a QB now. He should just retire instead of embarrassing himself further.

Well signing him as a FA is a low cost alternative as opposed to picking him off the waiver wire.

I liked NC_Skins idea. Yes I'm still bitter over losing that 2nd round pick.

I'd also like to note that 3 years ago you couldn't have bet me that in the future Kyle Orton would be picked up off waivers but Donovan McNabb wouldn't.

I think, but am not sure, that if claimed off waivers, the claiming team must pick up the existing contract. Once cleared, the old contract "goes away" and McNabb is free to negotiate a new deal.

Believe Vikings could also pick him back up and try to trade him but there are different rules for different players at different times of the year

Re: Viking release McNabb

If I recall.. We got our 2nd round pick back that we lost in the Mcnabb deal, and actually gained a 6th rounder?

Smooth move Bruce and Shanny
