I'd take David Molk over Phillip Blake.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Well, sure. The point is that if the O-Line's performance in terms of protecting the quarterback is heavily dependent on who the quarterback is, and the idea is that we've seen this in recent Redskins history, then I would probably not suggest using Todd Collins as an example.

Here is why: Collins was last relevant in 2007, and the offensive line was pretty good in 2007. For Campbell and Collins. Since the offensive line declined, Collins did nothing on a football field to ever suggest he was the missing link in the Redskins pass protection.

I mean, really nothing. We're talking about like 25 pass attempts or something with a couple of awful sacks and fumbles. By Todd Collins. In mop up.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story, I guess is the lesson here.

Nicks is a wall. I'd sign him in heartbeat as we prepare to bring in a rookie hoping he develops. How does a DOMINANT blocker not fit out system?

I agree. I really don't care if Nicks doesn't fit your system. He's the best out there and we need some studs on the o-line. I'd sign him before I'd sign Jackson.

As Matty stated, Shanahan isn't going to drop that kind of coin on a guard. Same thing with Meyers (C) in that we aren't going to give a interior OL a 8mil/year contract.

As a free agent pickup at wide receiver, who would you guys rather have, Mario Manningham, Pierre Garcon, Vincent Jackson, or Marcus Colston? Reports have already surfaced that Mike Shanahan is going after Manningham.

Garcon and Manningham are both inconsistent as hell, with Manningham being the worse of the two. I would rather have Vincent Jackson out of this group, but would have some sort of "character clause" in his contract in case he's suspended again. I really like Colston too, but injuries is a issue.

edit. Let's keep this topic to OL please.

Too bad there isnt a RT to give that coin too. Because there lies the biggest need along the Oline, and now with 2nd gone and our 1st round decided and the bums in FA at Tackle, dont expect much improvement. Hopefully Round 3 the Tackle from California is still available or we can move into the back into the second.

yeah lets talk about the same receivers we've talked about for the last 2 months in another thread, and lets make it O-line thread.

Good observation, however we need to have good interior protection. I don't think we should pay Nicks a boat load of money, but we should invest to get a guard in case Kory L. Has trouble coming back from his injury.

Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft

I'm amazed that people are wanting Garcon and Manningham. I have no desire for two average NFL wr's. We already have guys in Stallworth and Gafney that are just as good as those guys are. WR's don't win games in the NFL.

At this point Shanahan shouldn't be the decision maker. He's proven he isn't capable. If I were Snyder, I'd tell him to shut up and coach the team and leave the personel to the front office. We need to bolster the O-line if we're going to be starting a rookie.
