I love companies that tout their below a specific price then when you go check it's like $1 dollar below. WTF? With tax it will be over.
Hopefully you didn't just catch on to this.

As former co-chair of ESPN's anti-piracy committee I thank you for recognizing my work

You know who was really instrumental in getting NFL games on devices like the PS3?...Dan Snyder

You obviously did a good job!

You have read me argue that some folks streamed because the price of Sunday Ticket was back-breakingly high for them and they would quit streaming and go legit if things became more affordable. Note that I was not condoning piracy with this argument, just explaining it. Therefore I think this announcement by Directv is a major step in the right direction. For people like me who want to do things the legal way, $200 is much more feasible. It'd still be cool to see an a la carte plan but this plan works, too.

BTW Although it is possible that I have joined Fox streams, I have never pirated from ESPN.

Why they have not tapped into to that still makes me wonder. I mean I could see them getting easily $25 a game off people.

I have been out of market for over 20 years now. I have had Sunday ticket since its inception and rarely miss a game. The Red Zone and mix are awesome when the Skins are not playing. A little happier that my price is now less after all of these years.

Boooo! So you're the reason I couldn't find a decent stream when I was in NC during a football weekend last year!

Seriously though I know how hard it was to find a stream last year, so kudos to you for doing your job effectively. With the Ticket at 200 this year now, I doubt I'll have a problem when I'm out of town, seeing as how I'm sure my friends would easily pay 200 over 350.

Well, truth be told. Other than Monday Night games NFL wasn't a major point of focus

Also, my own recommendation to upper management was a bit controversial...and would have flipped the industry on its head (or something like that)

Furthermore, a la carte plans are not as cheap as one may think

Care to share?

Also I would think a la carte plans wouldn't be as cheap as we think, mainly because it would cost a cable company more to carry an entire channel devoted to one team, plus when you think along the lines of "buy in bulk = save" the a la carte mode wouldn't seem as attractive as once thought.

Re: DirecTV drops price of Sunday Ticket under $200

I'll start guessing: You proposed an ESPN channel that you can buy that only plays your favorite teams' games. You were rejected, because it never would've passed what with the other networks protests.

Yeah Matty, I know is $200 now. What I was saying is their product has dimmished with one less game on every Sunday with a Thursday night game EVERY week starting this year. Something had to give. You now will have a Thursday, Sunday night and Monday night national game EVERY week.

Sunday Ticket use to get you a maximum of 14 games each Sunday, now its only 13 in non-bye weeks. They have lost a game, so they can't keep charging the same $300+ price. In Bye weeks you are down to only 10 or 11 games some weeks. Sunday ticket subscribers were paying around $20+ a week last year, now it s amore reasonable $11-$12 a week.

Re: DirecTV drops price of Sunday Ticket under $200

Yeah the total # of games is down slightly, but I think more than anything the total # of subscribers have been on the serious down swing for the last couple years, forcing this price drop.

I look at it this way with the new pricing: I am preordering a la carte Skins games for $12.50 a game - and then getting all of the other games for free! I can definitely live with this deal.
