Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
I'm gonna break my expectations down in categories:
(1) Project Griffin into the offense we've seen thus far with NO changes to the offense (2) Project Griff into the offense but with a more balanced run/pass attack Category (1) avg: 598 atts (IIRC would be a NFL record for a rookie) avg: 7.5 ypa (gave Griff a bump in ypa b/c of his deep ball acccuracy and improved WRs targets) avg: 58.1 comp % avg: 3.35 TD % avg: 3.1 INT % (lowered the INT % b/c Rex is well Rex; he's an INT anomaly for the offense) pluggin Griff into the offense with the above factors: 4,485 yards 58.1 comp % 20 TDs 18 INTs (W-L) 7-9 Last edited by 30gut; 07-22-2012 at 05:07 PM. |

I forgot to factor in Griffin's rushing which changes the numbers for me. Some possible pass attempts/incompletions/completion will become successful rushing yards. Which lower his pass yards but raise his comp % and lower his int %. And Griffin's playmaking could result in a few more TDs. 543 atts---(598 atts avg - 55 imprv(15 call) rushing attempts) 347~(ish) comp--- (some completions will also turn into runs) 455 rush yards--(70 attempts @ 6.5 ypc) 4,072 pass yards 61 comp % 23 TDs 15 INT 3-3 NFC East 7-9 Overall |

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
I really don't like to my predictions when it comes to stats, but I do have expections for this offense.
RG3 I think he's going to be really good right out the gate. With his elite speed, athleticism, and passing ability I expect him to make a lot of explosive plays. However, I also expect him to make some bad reads here, throw some interceptions, miss some guys here and there, etc. All in all I think he will be the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Fred Davis I think Fred Davis is going to have a huge year. This guy is very talented. He'll have 1000 yds this season. WR I think Garcon is going to be a lot better than what people think. He's going to make a lot of big plays. I'm not sure about Morgan. There is no doubt that he's talented, however, lets see how he rebounds from that injury. The same goes for Hankerson as well. I see this guy got all the tools, but he's coming off of hip surgery. I have to see how he looks when he gets back on the field. I think Moss will be effective. |

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. And that he seems smart not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Not just as a player but as a person it seems.

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
^^Wow, that would be an impressive and welcome paradigm shift in terms of the offense.
Last year the rushing game produced 1614 yards (25th) on 400 att (25th) If we had 2200 rush yards this year it would rank 6th in the NFL. I gotta ask though, why/how so few passing yards? |

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
Are these assuming someone other than Griffin is throwing passes at some point? Otherwise, the mathz don't seem right.

As far as the "paradigm shift," I don't see it that way as much as I am just accounting for the fact that Griff will add yards on the ground that Wrecks/Beck did not.

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
Nope, just guessing. I did math with TD's but forgot math with receiving yards. Given your helpful comment, I would shave 75-100 yards from everyone I listed and then things work out better.

I thought you meant 2200 from the running backs alone and then looking at your passing yards total of 2,850 yards got me thinking. This offense has averaged 598 passing attempts the past 2 seasons. The only way I can see Griff's passing yards total under 3,000 yards is a drastic decrease in passing attempts. 3,000 @ 7.0 YPA = 428 passing attempts which would be a 169 attempts decrease; hence my thinking paradigm shift. If Kyle avg 598 avg. passing attempts w/ McNabb (A QB he didn't get along with) and Rex/Becks (2 QBs that can't play) then even though Griff is a rook, I can't imagine the passing attempts would drop that much. Griffin will be the most talented QB Kyle's ever had. And yes, I'm proly over thinking it. Last edited by 30gut; 07-22-2012 at 10:48 PM. |

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
The Redskins were ranked 16th in offense in the NFL last year. With the brand new additions on offense, I expect that ranking to improve greatly in 2012. Can they do any worse than we they did last year? No, they can't. But expect to see more improvement. If the Redskins can somehow, someway, move into top ten in the NFL in total offense, then expect them to be a playoff team. Let's not forget too that the defense, which is coming off a solid year in 2011, will be even more improved also.
