One other thing, IMO Michone from how they have shown her as a fighter so far should have destroyed the Governor in a heartbeat.

I forget, did you read the comics or no?

I remember what Michonne did to him in the comics, it was nuts

Yes I read them but I have gotten to the point where I separate comic and the show. They travel on pretty different paths.

Re: The Walking Dead season 3

I actually like how the show has gone this season vs the comics as far as developing the Governor. In the comics he was just straight evil right from the start. In the show we see what makes him a tick a little more. I'm betting in the 2nd half of this season he goes off the deep end.

Re: The Walking Dead season 3

And i couldn't think of a better actor than David Morrissey to play the governor.

TWD, at least portrayed on TV, is too complicated for "good or evil". Every character on that show, IMO, have their own reasons for what they do that makes them just appear more human and vulnerable.

Even Shane, who lots of people said was evil, was only in his mind doing what he did out of true love for Lori and Carl.

I felt Bad for The Governor when Michonne was threatening Penny. All the research his doctor was doing finally clicked to me, they were hoping to find a way to make the zombies docile whey they could figure out if it was possible to create some kind of a cure. Maybe Governor could handle Penny until they made some kind of break through....now, we will never know.

And even if Michonne would have owned the governor in a fight 99 out of 100 times, don't underestimate the fact that he was driven by anger and fear all at the same time, and his parental/survival instinct kicked in. I realized in that moment that The Governor just wanted to kill Michonne by any means necessary, even if it meant sacrificing himself... This season totally kicks ass. I"m sure they've already renewed for season 4

that finale was awesome. the sword thru the mouth trick really caught me off guard. that and the ending. if Andrea lets that happen, she is dead meat

Re: The Walking Dead season 3

so i somehow missed the whole walking dead bandwagon for the past couple years, and watched the entire series within the past week. I was hooked.

I'm not a fan of the comics (i've never really been into any comic books), but i do have to offer some minor complaints about season 3. Up until Michone was introduced, i never really felt like i was watching a series based on a comic book. Her character, the samarai sword, and the two zombies she leads along with her - it immediately took me out of the "reality" established in the show. The governor is just not a believable character. He seems to cliche and dennis-hopper-from-waterworld-ish. keeping the heads in the jars - not just of zombies but also of the helicoptor pilot, it just didnt feel "natural" to me. Neither did the staged WWF-zombie fights. I imagine all of that was pilfered from the comic, and it just didnt feel beleivable to me, within the context of what we'd seen the two previous seasons.

I think the best thing the show can do at this point is to free itself from the story in the comics. Theyve created a fascinating universe and they need to let it grow organically. Let the story go in directions we think it would really go in. If you want to use characters from the comics, fine, but adapt them for the "real world" feel the show has going for it. Give them motivations that make sense. Let their motivations create the storyline, not contrivances from the comics.

After finishing the series, I've read upon the comments from wikipedia, and lets just say will be very disappointed if the show continues in that direction.

You're talking believable within the context of a show about zombies? lol Ok.

The comics are far more detailed and in depth than the show. The show takes some themes and general plot lines from the books, but the show is a lot different. I'm not a big fan of comics in general but I highly recommend this series. It's really good and gives you more background into the characters.

lol, it was kind of a funny statement on my part, but i think you know where i'm coming from. Any sci-fi/fantasy show establihes a set "rules" for the reality its set in. Up until we saw Michone, everything seemed fairly "beleivable" within the context of those rules. Everything characters did seemed consistent with what we knew of the characters and what they would reasonably do in the situation they were put in. But Michone's character makes me roll my eyes. A lawyer would really use a samauri sword? And cut off the arms and mouths of two zombies and use them to cary things for her? And the Governor - would someone really keep heads in aquariums? Would a whole town of people really be THAT excited about staged WWF matches surrounded by zombies? The WHOLE TOWN? when we were first introduced to the town on the street, everyone seemed to be trying hard to live a normal life. And we're supposed to beleive that all these families want to go to an arena with actual zombies in it and watch guys fight? And these guys actually want to fight too?

The comics are far more detailed and in depth than the show. The show takes some themes and general plot lines from the books, but the show is a lot different. I think alot of my issues with the directions of the show in season 3 are probably addressed by more detail in the comics. But my point is, if the show isnt going to take the time to explain such "plot contrivances" and use caricatures (instead of characters), then they shouldnt take those elements from the comic to begin with.

I love seasons 1 and 2 of the show, and the season 3 is still awesome... its just those aspects ive described are minor annoyances. walking dead is definitely one of most compelling shows on TV. In an earlier episode, they referenced rumors of an island safe haven. I imagine thats ultimately where the characters will wind up. If there were a zombie outbreak, a remote island would definitely be where you wanted to be.

Re: The Walking Dead season 3

I guess I look at it like the world has gone to complete shit and "normal" is out the window, so yeah a guy keeping heads in aquariums or a woman with a samurai sword is completely within the realm of being possible. Believe me shit has only just started to get crazy, and at times the show is tame compared to the comics.

Re: The Walking Dead season 3

what did everyone think of last nights episode? i thought it was kind of "underwhelming" after waiting for 2 months, but they can't all be action packed. next weeks looked awesome. I miss Daryl.

I really wasn't feeling it last night. I thought it kinda dragged on a bit.
