Giants v Redskins - Griffin's 1st Rematch
Time to start the long draw to Monday night.
There are so many reasons to be excited and nervous for this game it's amazing. But the one that peaks my interest, even more than a shot at the Division title, is the fact that this is Griffin's first rematch. We know he learns from his mistakes, but can he learn from his opponents' mistakes too? Will we hear him say "They did x in the first game, so we thought we could pull that play off this time". And on the flip side, how will the Giants game plan change, now that they have seen him, and the players have a sense of his cadence and approach. Does he have any subtle tells that the DLine might pick up on. Division games are intense because of the familiarity between the opponents, this time will be no different. Then there is the "it's a big game factor". I think we all agree Griffin is showing himself to step up in big situations, and that no stage is too big. But what about the receivers, or Morris. Does Griffin's presence draw them to bigger and better plays, like it seems to be doing. And we have the 11 day off factor. Did the team rest, do they come out fresh, or do they look out of sorts vs a Giants team coming off a HUGE Sunday night win of their own? Finally some stats for your enjoyment: AccuScore puts the Giants at a 50% to 49% win (26-25) Offense Total Yards NYG 369 WSH 385 Yards Passing NYG 255 WSH 222 Yards Rushing NYG 115 WSH 163 Defense Yards Allowed NYG 367 WSH 391 Pass Yards NYG 253 WSH 301 Rush Yards NYG 114 WSH 89 Giants favored by 3, O/U 51 points Fans will be rocking, and Fed Ex will be a homefield for the first time in a long time! |
