Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
^If Hankerson would turn out to be a Roddy White, we'd be set at WR with him and Garcon. But I don't see it. I think he's just going to be a number 3 or maybe 2 receiver his whole career. Solid, just never Pro Bowl quality.
And I agree with you about Jordan Reed. I'm excited to see how we use him. |

And Reed may turn out to be our best pick from the draft. He is so similar to Hernandez is ridiculous.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
You could say that about every one of our picks. These guys have all shown big flashes in their college careers.
I would definitely prefer that two of the DBS turn out to be awesome of Reed, but I could see his versatility doing well in the offense. He could be the Shannon Sharpe that we were told/thought/hoped for Paul to be.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
As much as it would be great and I would love it I have not seen anything from Hankerson to believe he will ever be close to Roddy White.

I just hope Robinson isn't released. I know some people don't like him, but even if he doesn't produce a lot of stats, just having him out on the field forces defenders to back off. And obviously, that helps the other receivers. If we need to release a WR, I hope it's Briscoe. |

Robinson, Briscoe, and Paul would be the pass catchers in danger of losing a spot on the team. Question for the arm chair GMs has Robison shown us anything that makes us think he could be a replacement for Moss next year? Can he play the slot?

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
To be fair, it took a while for Roddy White to become Roddy White.

LH went from 19 to 38 receptions in his first two years. Not sure I see him being an 80+ WR in the coming year. Hope I am wrong. If he does and we could go 4 wide with Garcon, Morgan, Moss, Hank and Davis at TE ... their won't be enough footballs to go around.

I don't see him hitting 80 catches either. But, 60-65 seems very attainable for him. 700-800 yards is attainable as well. Garcon Hankerson Davis Reed Morgan I think those will be our pass catchers for the future.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
Not sure who people think are going to seriously challenge guys like Hankerson or Robinson for a roster spot this year.
Outside of maybe Briscoe I think our WR group is pretty set. |

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
I'm shocked to hear people suggesting Robinson will be pushed for a roster spot this year. He and Garcon are the only two guys on the roster who can truly stretch a defense. You want a 2nd speed guy in the receiving corps because when you put him and Garcon on the field together the defense has no choice but to back both safeties off a bit, which opens up the slot and the TE down the seam.
If you have only Garcon on the field, you're still a threat to go deep which is good, but a team can roll one safety to him while the other closes down. There are situations where Robinson gives a major strategic advantage, like 2nd and 2 from the 50. Without a guy like Robinson, you render part of RG3's value (his strong arm) a little bit more moot. Briscoe is the WR from last year's roster who is most likely to be pushed for a spot - but I doubt anyone beats him out either.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread
Yeah we will see, I hope both can contribute. I certainly dont think either (Robinson, Briscoe) are roster locks. I think Briscoe is overall the better receiver of the 2. As to who pushes them, well one of the 6(including Lance) udfa we've brought in. Not saying these guys are ready to step on the field, but they've been brought in to obviously for the competition.
