Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

It's great that thewarpath.net has posters like RedskinRat (a former Brit) and AndyUKSkin (presumably a current Brit) to inform the rest of us how to speak "British jive."

I'm still learning American English, it's been a struggle.

Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

Maybe I'm just showing my age here but what the heck is a unique whip? Is this like a cribs show?

Did anyone notice the upcoming lineup "Dump Trucks, Doctors, and Denver"....
Denver sounds like a place for Courtney Brown alright....................

Whip = Car

I have no idea why that would be considered a car, but it is.

Yeah, I just heard that word like last year. Some guy was saying, "Yo I got the phattest whip around." and I was like, "You are one kinky bastard."

Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

But also ON the subject of unique whips, it is basically a show-down of how much horsepower and amplifier wattage you can fit into a car. Wyclef Jean has quite possibly the craziest collection of cars around. You would go deaf in seconds by listening to some of his show models.

Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

I'm all about having fun with some of your money when u get a crap load of money, but come on Lavar. Hopefully he actually has money being set aside and being saved or else we're gonna be hearing about him going bankrupt on the that "behind the music" type show for athletes in a decade or so. Instead of wasting all that money on the 56 tvs because it's your number, give that money to a cause that needs it instead of just tossing money around because u can. I don't know how many others agree, but this is what pisses me off about pro athletes and celebrities, is that they just throw their money around on extremely pointless crap just to show how much money they have and easy it is for them to waste it and not worry about it. The one's that r the worst though r the ones who spend like this and then talk about how terrible their life is or how terrible certain parts of the world r but don't do jack to help it.

I agree. I completely agree, but it's one of those things where you have to say: Where do you draw the line? Like LaVar has the means to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity, but say he donates the equivalent of what we normal people donate in a year. Does that make it wrong? By having the means to help, does that mean that you are inclined to help? It's a very philosophical question and I don't feel there is a real answer, because I would hate to think that because someone gave 100,000 dollars to a charity, that they were more "charitable" than me because I only gave 20. All I ask of athletes, movie stars and celebrities in general is just to have some community conscience and do what they can in their spare time to help out the world.

When he says he donates the equivalent of what normal people donate is speaking of dollar amount or percentage.

Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

He donates his time to charity and creates awareness. I don't have a problem with him pissing money in all directions, that's good for the economy, right?

Having a huge amount of money shouldn't require you to be a philanthropist.

Re: Arrington on Unique Whips

Being a philanthropist for some reason brings a lot of criticism: (see Teresa Hines Kerry.)

These guys do work hard for their money so why shouldn't they live in luxury. LaVar DOES do a lot of good stuff off the field, I can't deny him that. One of my favorite things about him.

Yeah, it's called 'jealousy'. Same deal that you hear about Bill Gates. It's his money AND he already spends a ton on good deeds, then gets accused of just doing it for the tax write off.
