What about 6-7 if it took that?

We couldn't fit that under our cap unless we signed Orakpo long term, cut Bowen, or otherwise cleared some space. We have 7m right now.

But let's just make up some numbers out of thin air. A five year deal with 16 million signing bonus could carry a cap charge as low as 4m this season. If you don't want to backload that much or want to increase the bonus, a 5 year deal with a 20m bonus could be done for a 5m cap hit this year.

I am not sure what it will take to get him but we could fit it. I think you have to go for it if the deal allows you to escape after 3 years. It is SOOO hard to find a WR like this.

Because of Andy Reid, possibly?

As long as he doesn't have to be the #1 guy, which he wouldn't be here, DeSean Jackson is too dynamic to pass up on. Not many players can turn the game consistently on one play

Also, instant problem solved when it comes to punt returns.

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday

I have been very much against DJax since the news that the iggles were shopping him. Don't like his character or the $ he demands. However, the circumstances now suggest that we could get him on the cheap or at a reduced price. We're the first team he's visiting, sounds like a vendetta. If he's hungry to stick it to the sheagles, this could be a good signing. We have about 7M in space last I read. If we can limit him to 3M of that, then I say pull the trigger. Don't think it will happen.

I think he would be the definition of a locker room cancer. His performance isn't in question...I dont think the skins need more of a media circus in the coming years. I definitely vote no on signing him.

I laugh at this concept. That locker room cancer didn't infect the Eagles enough to prevent them from being NFC East Champs last season.

He'll relate to a guy like Hall pretty well. Will he be a great citizen and vocal leader? Probably not, but his on-field impact is too great.

In just about every article about Jackson's release, one of the reasons cited is that he had a negative influence on the younger players. Sure, the Eagles won the NFC East last year, but perhaps Kelly's influence and leadership were able to overcome what Reid couldn't. If all the talk about Jackson's gang activity and negative influence is just a smokescreen to hide the real reason, money, then I would be in favor of signing him. But I'd be wary of adding a guy to our locker room if he would be a hindrance to the younger players.

If his being cut ends up costing D-Jax a lot of money, I wouldn't be surprised to see him file a lawsuit over all of this unsubstantiated gang activity talk.

I grew up in the inner city. I knew gang members. How could I not know some of them? They lived in my neighborhood. We played together as young children. I went to school with some of them. I was friendly with some of them when we were teenagers. We went to some of the same parties. I sometimes went to clubs where they hung out. Where I lived, gangs were part of the landscape, like trees and grass.

But I wasn't a gang member and I was not involved in any of their illegal activities. Perhaps the same is true of D-Jax.

I think the gang talk is a smokescreen but not for money. The Eagles took a huge dead-cap hit in releasing him (I read a dead-cap hit of about $8 mil.), so the Eagles did not release him for monetary issues.

All I remember is fear watching us play Philly and just waiting for him to torch us. Get him.
