For what is worth if I had a vote in the US it would be Democrat as I'm a born and bred socialist and used to be a labour party member at one point, but here like in the states honourable people are not elected anymore just career politicians.
A crying shame on all of us. |

Re: Overseas Redskins fans (non American born) sign in here
Very interesting thread!
I am a french fan of the Redskins. My link with the Redskins is coming from some part of of my family living in Virginia and who contaminated me with the "Burgundy & Gold Virus". You should know that the french mostly support soccer, rugby or the NBA (because of Tony Parker and Joakim Noah now), but they absolutely don't understand the NFL. So, in the beginning, it was pretty cool to support a team completely unknown here. It was like having my own team to cherish. Then, I think the virus spreaded inside me, bringing the high hopes in May after the spending during the off-season and the high despair in December when I realize the Redskins won't make the playoffs... again. Neverthless, I always stuck with this team. For its history. For its spirit. For its loyal fanbase. Now, I am very proud to wear my Redskins jersey, walking in the Champs Elysées in Paris, whereas most of the french don't know what it could represent. Hail To the Redskins! Gloire aux Redskins!

Would love to know what the overseas fans think of London getting a team. Lots of rumors about the Jags going there.

I had more culture shock when I moved to the deep South than I did when I moved to Japan.

I remember when I moved down here only people met a handful of people with a southern accent. We're talking maybe 3 or 4 people at most. One of which was our neighbor who was the only one in a house with his wife and two kids to speak with a southern draw. Mind you this is a town with over 80,000 people in a 32 square mile area (60,000 when I moved here in 98). As of writing this there are 5,555 students at three different high schools within a 5 mile radius of where I graduated. Still don't understand though why the area has such terrible traffic problems. It wasn't until I went to college deep in the heart of GOR-GEE-AH that I ran into virtually every other stereotype that you can think of in regards to the South. Eventually it got to the point where a friend of mine started calling them Nati-Lites because that seemed to be their drink of choice. I will say this though, that for the most part southerners are extremely polite. Which can make it all the more shocking when they say...some of the stuff they say (think politics). Ironically I actually experienced culture shock going back to DC while visiting family, just from silly things like people either not holding doors for you or not even saying thanks when you hold the door for them as well as a couple other random things. Maybe it was my fault for standing in the middle of an automatic door but you really should thank someone that holds the door for you. I think I even saw one guy push an old lady out of his way while using a crosswalk when I was stopped at a traffic light, and this was in Reston, Virginia lol. Based on this large sample size I think its safe to assume that the lot of you are nothing but old people beaters that relish in the lost art of door slamming.

London is just too far away for teams to be travelling. On theory it would be nice but not practical. Im happy with the one or two games as it is and look forward to the day the Redskins land in town. |

Re: Overseas Redskins fans (non American born) sign in here
Neither I am.
I think there would be many issues 1/ as Glasgow Celtic said, problems for the team travelling in London. Could you imagine how tired could be the teams coming from the Western Coast like the 49ers or the Seahawks? 2/ I don't see players playing for the London team being very motivated in playing for a team which is not in their country, being far from their family and supported by a very heterogeneous public coming from various part of Europe (and obviously a public who couldn't afford to go to London at every game) That's my humble point of view
