Re: Set it all aside -- Training Camp Begins

I just hope we stay healthy. I'm not going to get too high or low on anything that happens before week one. Last year we DOMINATED preseason. I don't just mean we won games, but we crushed teams w/o RG3 and I was all smiles going into the season and we're 3-13. I'm hoping to see some young guys (Moses, Thomas) possibly beat out some veterans, but we'll see. The fun can finally begin!

Amerson taking a big step forward will make a huge difference for this team.

Rambo.... i'd like to see him make it through 4 preseason games tackling with his head up and not getting 15 yard penalties. That would be a big step up...

Need Bowen and Hatcher off pup...

At this point yeah the secondary help would be great, but the front seven is where this defense has to win.

Defense. Defense. Defense. Special Teams.

I believe the offense will do well for the most part, but everything still rides on defense and special teams at this point.

My "project" to watch this summer will be Brandon Jenkins. Guy has a ton of talent so let's see if he can put it all together and move up the depth chart.

I disagree, Jenkins is 3rd string at best, and I doubt he makes the team. He is to slow for OLB (5.0 40), and to small for DE.

Not that we needed proof but this shows that pre season means nothing. You just can't put any stock into the games. The 91 Skins were garbage in pre season.

Yeah I agree on Amerson. He has the ability to be our Richard Sherman. Rambo? I don't think he makes the team.

Agreed... i don't have any faith in this front 7 to be any different than they have been. I think a healthy Griffin playing well and leading an offense that can drop 30+ a game is going to be the biggest boost to our defense...

I have no put no stock into the hype that this team has put up around this front 7. The guy we acquired that was supposed to be a boost and Bowen, another guy that was supposed to be a big boost but hasn't done much, are not even practicing.... Orakpo's break out year? We'll see... Haslett unhand-cuffed? I remain skeptical.

But hey, I've been wrong before

Yeah I gave up on Rambo last year in preseason. He's got talent but he's stupid. You can't fix stupid... though it appears the team is going to give it one more try.

Re: Set it all aside -- Training Camp Begins

I have three pet players who I'm rooting on this year.

Richard Crawford - I think he's a very good player who can help the team in several ways. I'm just hoping that he has recovered enough to make the team and have a good year.

Josh LeRibeus - I think that Josh has a lot of talent. In the past, he's hurt himself by not being in good shape. But now it seems to me that he has found the motivation to keep in shape. I'd like to see him compete for a starting job this season.

Phillip Thomas - I really wanted him in the draft and we got him. He was an elite playmaker in college and I think he can become a very good NFL player. He might even become a starter some time this season.

One guy i really want to watch is Chris Chester. How do you come off your best year as a pro and then have possibly your worse? I have a feeling he can return to form

Re: Set it all aside -- Training Camp Begins

I'm interested to see how Santana does in camp. He's definitely a bubble player at this point in his career, and he'll have to impress Gruden. With Hank's return in doubt he's got a better shot, but we'll see. Moss usually bounces back with a very good camp every time his job is in jeopardy, but at age 35, I dunno.

I'm also interested to see hints of how Haz will call the defense without Shamahan looming over his shoulder, to see if he's truly set free. I do think this is Rak's "breakout" year (if it can be called that, I'm one of the folks who think he's already played at a high level, albeit with some consistency issues), so we should hear some reports of Rak dominating camp. Play calling from Haz will contribute to that a lot.

He's had one year. Had it not been for his injury, he would have been drafted much higher.
