So glad football is here. Not so sure about our Skins. I think the defense and teams plays much better. Not sure about offense. I think that's the area where we're going to struggle starting off. 6-8 wins seems logical to me.

I thought the poll would reflect more optimism. Gotta say, I think we struck gold with Gruden, and would be shocked if he doesn't have us in the SB within the next 2 years. That said, we will know a lot more on Sunday, when we see how he calls the game to minimize Clowney, Watt and the rest of the Houston's front 7

Re: How do you feel, the season is upon us.
I don't think it's that long a shot for 2years. Of course, I am banking on Griffin staying healthy, probably the biggest risk, and Gruden actually being as good a coach as I think he is. I also think we ought to win the division both this year and next, with Philly being the only team that is in good shape to compete for it, but I think Kelly's going to get a rude shock this year.
The contracts they put in place are a 2yr, 3 at most timeframe before major parts start get overhauled, and while I don't think that's bad, it sets up for a good two year run now. Personally, I see us a lot closer to the 2012 team, with better back end defensive and special teams play, and that team could have, would have, should have gone deeper in the playoffs. |

Re: How do you feel, the season is upon us.
As the week goes by, my excitement level is going upwards. I'm excited to see what our teams looks like and how they respond to last year and Gruden's coaching.
Keim has us going 7-9, which is one off from where I thought. He's right though, this whole thing depends on how Robert does. He could very well lead us to another division championship this year. I'm hoping for the best. 2014 NFL season preview -- analysis, game-by-game predictions, more for every team

Improved talent, another year experience for the young ones, new talent infusion and coaching. Skins make playoffs with or without RGIII.

Re: How do you feel, the season is upon us.
While I am very excited to see what a healthy RG3 can do, our bottom of the barrel secondary and no RT will be insurmountable. We finish a distant 4th with a 5-11 record.
While I love the idea of d jax, he was not a need and this team still has glaring needs. We should have used that 10 mil per to sign the FS out of carolina and the RT from the bucs. If we had a legit FS and legit RT, we would have a legit chance. signed, broken record |

Some of the other desirable FA's at those positions were gone quickly, signing very lucrative contracts with other teams. I was proud of Bruce Allen for husbanding our cap space rather than throwing it away by signing people at those positions who probably wouldn't have been upgrades. As for DeSean Jackson, signing him did not affect our ability to sign a FS or RT. The hunt for a FS and a RT were over with and the dust had settled before we had the chance to sign him. That's because he was cut by Philly late in FA.

Can't quick fix everything. It's not like we didn't make moves at RT and in the secondary. I don't see how the secondary can be anywhere near as bad as last year, especially with a better pass rush and the growth of guys like Amerson.

Re: How do you feel, the season is upon us.
the better pass rush should allow Haz to go man on the corners (like pundits have sd he likes to do) ... but if that pass rush doesnt get there on any given play we will be vulnerable. hopefully our strategic gamble that a great pass rush will assist the secondary will pan out.
i feel me slipping to the darkside. i used to be more positive. i just need me some healthy RG3 to get back on track. |

Re: How do you feel, the season is upon us.
We made moves to fix the OL and secondary, drafting two OLers and one CB before the 4th round was over. Problem is, we have to wait for these rookies to be ready for prime time.
But if it all works out, we have a new right side for the OL and two good young corners (counting Amerson) for years to come.
