He's had a nice run. Given the many ups and downs this season, I'm hesitant to call someone or some team a sure thing.

I agree. Bill is better and it's not even close. I just think Peyton has played for good coaches as well.

He has. I wasnt really trying to knock Dungy or Fox, but what I was saying was if you took Brady away from Bill all these years would there be any debate about who is the better qb? Impossible to say really but....

Watching Andrew Luck sometimes he throws the ball quick sometimes he holds it longer. sometimes his line lets defenders come on in and sack him like RG3 does. People are putting too much emphasis on quick release. If its not open then don't just "Kirk Cousins" the game away.

No one is calling for RGIII to do stupid things. But he has plenty of room to speed up getting the ball out. And quickly and safely throwing the ball away beats a sack every time.

Gruden's offense is based on timing which leaves receivers getting lots of YAC. A slow delivery from the QB gums up the works pretty badly.

On quick timing plays yeah. But if you noticed even when Cousins was playing he threw picks when he had too much time. ON play action there are no quick releases. On deep routes there are no quick releases. I think Gruden calls different plays when RG3 is in the game. Sooner or later the o-line has to block. Even when Cousins was QB, Polumbus is what really ruined his career.

Cousins threw picks because of erratic accuracy and poor decisions, not because of timing.

BTW on play action and deep routes there still typically are quick release opportunities to safety valves. And you can still throw the ball away, much of the time anyway, even if no safety valve is available.

Think what you want. But my guess is that Gruden is constantly talking to RGIII about timing. This is not a new concept - Jerry Rice is a HoFer in part because of the YAC he got from a timing based offense.

Clearly, a conspiracy is afoot.

Re: Around the League...Week 9 Style

Of course he calls a different game - Griffin can do things KC can't. At the same time, if you don't think timing is a large part of Gruden's offense, well, we have been watching different teams.

and, sorry, several of Kirk's INT's had nothing to do with how much or how little time he had in the pocket. Many were quick but errant throws.

Re: Around the League...Week 9 Style

Easy to see why Luck is so much farther ahead than RG3, growing up in a pro style offense at Stanford vs an Art Briles college gimmick offense.
