Chiefs lead the league in Rushing yards...this is the focus. Ill take my chances with Alex Smith.

That's the quandary their offense puts you in. Hunt is a major running threat which requires your LBs to plug the gaps quick. But at the same time be mindful of Kelce's speed up the seam. The LBs have to avoid biting on the fakes yet be quick to read and attack. Not easy.

The key for us might be Nicholson. Dude is big and rangey. Maybe you shade him to Kelce and let Brown worry about Hunt.

I'd like my chances there, we'd just need to make sure our corners handled Hill without giving up the huge play. That and keep containment on Alex Smith. He'll get out and run if the rush is undisciplined.

This opponent deserves a lot of respect but for once it seems like we might have the talent to hang defensively.

Chiefs have a 50-yard touchdown in NFL record nine straight games – ProFootballTalk

big plays are an issue, very true. I think playing disciplined and coaching scheme. Safety play...last line...is naturally gonna have to be played at a high level.

Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

If the D keeps showing up similar to last week it will be a very interesting season.

Was it just a perfect storm of the D playing way above it’s head and the Raiders’ offense laying an egg, or is the D a legit force to be reckoned with? We shall see.

Been thinking that all week, didn't want be a debbie downer and bring it up here. We don't get many weeks like this around here; just wanted to take it in.

If we win an away game, against a good team, in prime time, I may believe we can get 4 wins.

I might have to change my 4 win prediction to 6 if this keeps up.

I think we’re legit. Obviously you’re not going to shut everyone done like that each week, but to do it against a high octane offense like that for 4 quarters tells me it’s likely not a fluke.

Is Hill a great WR or is he just living on speed and creative ways of getting him in space? I have never been super impressed with his "receiving" abilities. Just a freak athlete who the coach is putting in the right spots. I think if we coach this just right, we can shut him down. Damn, our edge-to-edge run defense has me drinking some stroooong Kool-Aid.

Side note: How effing great is DJ Swearinger?? Dude is turning into the heart and soul of the D (I could watch the play where he knocks the skittles out of Lynch all day and not tire of it).

With that said, I am seriously worried about a let down b/c of how much emotion went into last week's win. I have no doubt they CAN beat KC but worry that they won't be able to sustain the emotional physicality needed to do so.

Yup, that article chico posted had a gif of it and it played on loop, i watched/heard it about 10 times today.

I think, maybe more hope than think, that our D can match up w the Chiefs. Swearinger keeping guys lined up right, calling out plays. Brown and Mason plugging run gaps. Norman/bree winning 1 on 1 so we can focus on run and Kelce.

Cravens would be nice to have, i thought he would play the "shadow TE" role when we went up against a Kelce.

Kelce is a bama. Acts like a bama, looks like a bama.

He’s still learning the ropes at WR but his crazy athleticism and Reid’s system makes him very dangerous.

I thought our D looked solid the first 2 weeks. Against the Eagles they killed it with blown coverage and missed tackles/sacks that turned punts into 1st downs or TDs.
Against the Rams they also did some of the above.

To me last week was the first time they played up to their potential, I really don't think that was a fluke.

This is what they could have looked like the first 2 weeks had they just finished plays they created.

TMC, I wanna, but I can't drink the Kool-Aid just yet. We checked the box for "play 1 consistent game where everything came together for the most part." The next box of "play 2+ consecutive consistent games against elite teams" is a lot harder to check. It's a great test though, and I hope they again use the "nobody is giving us a chance" chip to their advantage again. But I won't be entirely shocked if there's a letdown, it's in our nature until they prove me wrong. I'd be happy to be proven wrong again though.

Good stat from Keim about our improvement on the defense

"The Redskins' new defensive line has helped. Washington ranks third allowing 1.41 rushing yards before contact, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The last two years: 2.68 and 2.98, respectively"

All about stopping the run folks.
