They trade back to pick #23 with New England and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick. NE needs a tackle or QB and has plenty of picks.

Then Washington can go DT, G, and RB with their first 3 picks.

Who I want: Fitzpatrick or trade down

Best guess: Vea or Payne

Worst case: Guice anywhere in the first 20 picks

Todd McShay, Mel Kiper agree: Vita Vea makes sense for Redskins - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN

My hope is that the Redskins sign Hankins in FA so they'll have another piece in place before they draft. Then we could fill another position instead of DL in the first round.

If they don't sign Hankins, Vea would be nice although I would take Payne over Vea.

I love Kiper's pick of Penny in the second round. I think he's going to be a star in the NFL. I would take him over Guice because I think Guice will get hurt due to his reckless running style. Don't get me wrong - I admire Guice's total effort on every play. I just think he's going to get hurt.

Of the players who are likely to be available at #13, I would love to have one of the following: Da'Ron Payne, Roquan Smith, and Derwin James.

I agree to take Payne over Vea. Vea played only 62% of the defensive downs, Payne is a 3 down player.

I don't think signing Hankins necessarily precludes us from drafting either of them. I mean:

Allen, Ioannidis, Lanier, Hankings, Payne/Vea could possibly be the best defensive line rotation in the NFL.

Not saying this is my preference but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.

What if you sign Hankins and you have Derwin James or Fitzpatrick sitting there at 13? That would be my preference

I would be ecstatic to get either one of them and would prefer that then what I mentioned. I'm a Noles fan so give me James of the 2.

But there are way worse things than stacking the d line to the hilts.

I would be perfectly happy to double dip as well.

More than 1 way to skin a cat.

My guess is first choice will be either Fitzpatrick or James, if both are not available then Payne.

Can't go wrong with adding to the secondary

Yep especially those 2 players. I admit I don't follow college football that much but numerous report claim the caliber of those 2 players are rare and I can imagine how we use one of those 2 players to transform our defense by mixing it up with Nicholson and Swearinger at same time on the field to confuse QBs. And, not to mention the fact that we would be set with safeties with Nicholson and James/Fitzpatrick for years to come if we draft one of those 2 players.

I'd rather have James, he has the speed to play S and CB.. Fitz is a good one too but he doesn't have that athleticism like James.

If we don't get Vea or Payne, then we need to pay up and make sure we bring in Hankins.

This is the year to get a true NT stud.

Doesn't the Hankins deal need to be done prior to the draft?

It doesn't need to be, but I am hoping it will (with us). Because of the DT's in the draft though teams may wait to see if they land one.

I do think Hankins will sign before the draft like last year, but I think last year's DT draft was a lot weaker, and so he had more leverage. His agent may be telling him to wait out the draft and see what team comes out hungry and wanting.
