Re: Commanders Regular Season Thread vol 1

Nothing earth-shattering really. I'm good with the list.

I'm a little surprised they chose to keep 5 TEs, and released both D Johnson and C Elder. Not that either is all that good, but going with four CBs is too risky in my opinion.

I'm glad they chose Williams over Patterson.

Should see a number of these guys on the practice squad.

I will be shocked if they don't sign a CB and a LB in the next couple days.

Re: Commanders Regular Season Thread vol 1

Our LB corp is putrid. There is no way they compete with that group. No way. To not address it after last year is inexcusable. There is nobody out there that is going to make a difference either at this point.

What is so insane is Del Rio and RR were LB’s. How do they not understand the importance of the position?

Re: Commanders Regular Season Thread vol 1

Maybe they don't value the position as much as we think they should because they were LBs...

I tend to agree with you though.

Like they are so knowledgeable about the position that they can impose their linebacker wisdom into anyone they field at the position and turn them into solid backers? Hell it is as good a theory as I’ve heard actually Chief. Do I think it is a good plan …hell no. Is it a plan none the less? Hell yes.

Re: Commanders Regular Season Thread vol 1

LBs in general are being devalued across the league since so many teams are playing in DB heavy schemes.

More along the lines of what MTK said, but like they played the position, so they have more institutional knowledge as to what caliber of player(s) they need to run the defensive scheme they plan to run.

Can't say the plan (whatever it is) is a good one though as it hasn't worked so far.

I'm just waiting for T Lawrence and Evan Engram to carve them up week 1. I can't help but believe that the 3rd down issues are directly tied to the weak LB corps.

We have no db’s either though. Lol. A couple sort of promising corners i guess. Fuller is solid. Not sure the group is enough to cover the deficiencies of our LB’s.

Devaluing is one thing. Completely ignoring is quite another.
