Re: Around the NFL Week 17
the line is -1.5 at home.
Its not a washington line at all. Its a trap line and vegas' %'s of wins are higher than not. Keep an eye on the line and how it shifts - if public money starts going on cleveland? I will feel better about our chances. The public sucks and i tend to stick to betting the opposite of them haha

I'm hoping they go: Howell/2023 Mid-Round Pick/Cheap Vet at the QB position next year. Neither Wentz or Heinicke have proved they deserve the money it will take to keep them next year.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
Unless Wentz has a huge turnaround he's an easy choice to move on from.

But the Wentz contract, no way Im paying…it’s either reduced cap or outright cut depending on how he finishes

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
Yes but you are forgetting the RR factor, I think he will keep Wentz on a reduced cap hit as a starter next year if he wins the next two games.

Backup money for TH, if he gets a better offer to go elsewhere I'd wish him the best

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
I would want Howell to be backup next year, we don't have that much spare cap to spend on Heinicke as a backup

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
If Wentz gets the team to the playoffs and looks pretty good doing it, he will be back next year, and Howell will start the season as the backup.

We should all be hoping for this scenario

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
I f Wentz shines the next 2+ games I'd bring him back but it would have to be on a renegotiated deal. He stank before the injury and didn't show enough in garbage time against SF to warrant anything long term.
TH will likely cost too much to keep as a backup, but he would be a good safety blanket if we can do a reasonable deal. Given what he's done he deserves to get his money, but I don't think it should be us forking out. Ideally Howell pushes Wentz hard in camp and earns the backup role outright, if not actually deserving starter. Agree with picking up a guy in the draft, but only if BPA. IF Howell does show something we don't want to be wasting a pick on another QB that likely won't see the field, and then miss out on needs (OL, LB, DB). If Wentz stinks and Howell doesn't look like the man then I think strategy has to be go high in the draft for a QB. I'd maybe sniff around Carr for a cheap deal, but definitely not offer the farm for him. He strikes me as a kind of TH but with an arm. As a 1-2 year placeholder until we the right guy in teh draft, I'd be OK with that. |

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
I hope Howell is forced into action and absolutely crushes it against Dallas. Somehow we manage the win against Cleveland in the mean time. Than we go into next year with our guy and we can always get a backup. Pipe dream i know. No way im paying Taylor some crazy amount to stay on as a backup.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
Something else, if there is a QB in the first or second round this year and we think he can be the guy. Draft him.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17
The QB class is weak. Bryce Young is a stud but other than him who is left? Stroud? He looks like another OSU system QB.
Will Levis has potential but so does Sam Howell. Richardson from UF? So yeah I’m hoping Wentz balls out the next 2 weeks and plays well in the playoffs, he’s on our team now and he’s not old so we all should hope he’s actually good. TH is a backup and a good one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
