Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
that is a lot of money tied up in two d-tackles!! but they aren't paying a QB so I say really good move!

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
Very glad about the Payne deal, yes that's a lot of money invested into our Dline, but I feel like we haven't seen this team use its strength to its full potential yet, so I'd hate to see some of them go already, not now, not when we're on the verge of hopefully finally having competent leadership.
I don't want a big $ DB in FA, we have 4 very good guys, draft some depth and hopefully a fifth solid starter. Save our cap space to sign one solid ILB and a couple of decent Olinemen !

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
Apparently Paynes new deal clears $9.4m in cap space according to PFT, puts us well over 20m

Oline from Philly, I have a feeling Holcomb is not coming back now.

I'm not sold on this. You don't pay a guy that kind of money for 1 good year out of 5. It's not smart. If he plays like he did last year, it'll be a value, but his history says otherwise.

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
He's a solid backup. I would not want to move on from him unless it's some stupid money.

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
Would you rather have Marcus Mariota? I say bring Heinicken back, maybe he'll get better with EB. Chad Henne was mediocre journey man and became a solid backup under Reid and EB

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
th depends on the money... how many other backup qbs have come in and won as many games the last two years? I'd say he is top 64, possibly top 32, so if it's not big money and he wants to be here as a backup, eh.

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
I have mixed feelings about the Payne contract for a couple of reasons, (1) he doesn't interact much with the Dline team (I know it's not that significant but respect for each other is a big deal) and (2) this is more money than we gave to Allen and Allen is our #1 leader on the defense.
But at the same time, I'm glad to have two stud DTs on the team for next 3 years. |

Re: Commanders Free Agency Expectations
As long as Eric is the one who decides this - I'm fine with Heinicke coming back as a backup. We cannot deny the fact that he has that "it" factor which inspires the whole team every time he plays.

How many backups played behind starters that should have been the backups and even got a chance to come in and play at all? Lol. |
