Exactly. Thats what I'm trying to say. He's not even worth a 4th rounder.....so it doesn't matter that he got drafted in the 1st round. Like I said on my previous post -- HE NEVER LIVED UP TO HIS POTENTIAL |

Damn, the Panther fans are obviously living in a larger fantasy world than most of us. Check it out.

"oh yeah Nance, isn't Rod in the last year of his deal? I so, I would love to lock him up for like maybe 2.5 - 3 mil a year for about 4 years. I'm sure he'll wait till the end of the year though, unless he feels grateful for us taking him, oh well... I'M JUST HYPED ABOUT HIM COMING HERE." Believe me, Rod would love to sign for $3 million a year. That'll be $60,000 a catch, if you're lucky. Or, about $75,000 a drop.

Someone else said that Carolina has the best WR corp now with the addition of Gardner.

Re: Gardner to Panthers
Guys, every fan sees things through his/her teams colored glasses. For Carolina, it is a very good pickup. A veteran starter that could be a good #2 or #3 WR. Basically a replacement for Muhammad. And on our end, we got something for a guy that's been a dissappointment and would've been released anyway. Not bad from either point of view. But Superbowl??? Uhhh....ok....BUT honestly in today's NFL, who knows! They are a only year removed from being in the big game. (I wouldn't bet on it though)
As for the arguement that he was a 1st round pick, that is irrelevant. Pierce was a no-name player that performed well and got rewarded with a good deal. Priest Holmes wasn't even drafted. Should guys like these not make more money just because they weren't drafted high? No, they have proven themselves on the field. It works both ways. I wouldn't exactly call him a bust, but Gardner has definitely underachieved, so he is not worth as much as his potential was when he was drafted. |

Re: Gardner to Panthers
I'm going to agree with the first part of your statement. I mean Dyson comes in for us and we all expect him to contribute, but how much do we REALLY think he will? I mean at least we aren't saying he is the missing piece to our Super Bowl team.

Re: Gardner to Panthers
Hell, I'm hoping Dyson doesnt make the first team. No offense to the guy, but seriously, we have young guys that I really want to see preform in McCants and Jacobs; we have vetaran speedsters in Moss and Patten, we have James thrash who plays the game with more heart than most anyone I've ever seen, and has anyone heard anything about that reciever we worked out from the NFLE?? Or was that the arena league??
Anyway reading the panther's fans reactions to getting gardner is pretty interesting... one even called him more talented than the moose. LMAO. |

Re: Gardner to Panthers
really in my opinion, i wouldn't mind him on our team had he not been a d-bag. He can produce, but his d-bag qualities, his 50/50ness and the cap help, was more of a positive to release rather than to keep him

Re: Gardner to Panthers
My understanding is that the best we can hope for is a 6th. To get a 5th would mean he makes the pro bowl. A 6th means that he starts over 70% of their games or plays in a high % of their offensive plays. Prediction: 6th rounder. Now, we must get all draft picks signed and in camp.
