Re: Arrington start?
LaVar will work his way back in to the mix, right now there's no rush.

Re: Arrington start?
This trend about LaVar not being system oriented has been running it's turbelence for quite some time now dating back to the time Marvin Lewis was coaching the defense. While he may have supporters, he also has detractors, and there must be some substance to the claims that keep him out of the line-up aside from injury. Perhaps there are issues related to personality more so than performance that is his handicap because we all know GW prefers disciplined players to run a disciplined scheme, and it has been noted on more than one ocasion that LaVar prefers to (at times) run his own schemes and it contributes to his lack of playing time. He needs to get himself in position where he is physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to play the game the way the coaches want him to play. Until he does that, maybe we won't be seeing a lot of LaVar.

Re: Arrington start?
I think Lavar will be playing soon, remember that GW doesn't care who you are, how much money you make...ect ect. Sean Taylor didn't start during the preseason because he wasn't at offseason workouts. ofcourse it isn't LA's fault that he did not practice(well actually Lavar blamed the team for putting him in to early so we can just blame the team) but he will have to earn his way back. Just a few more weeks

Re: Arrington start?
I too think it's a matter of time before LA get's back. I think the stuff the media is reporting are little tid-bits of stuff here and there taken out of context.
I can't imagine benching a guy with, what $68 mil. contract?? C'mon? |

Re: Arrington start?
I think when you play the Broncos and Chiefs, you have to have Lavar in more packages. He would attract double teams when rushing the passer, and free up others (griffin, salave'a, boschetti, etc.) to get sacks. Not getting any pressure on Plummer or Green would be scary.
I'm not sold on the defense this year, as yet - they're good, but not as good as last year. |

Re: Arrington start?
Much of what's being said about LaVar and his lack of playing time is not media related. It's not coming from the Media, it's coming from the coaches and espically his position coach. While many of us may not understand why LaVar is not playing, I'm sure the coaches do. GW is going to play the best players we have in his various packages we utilize, so it has become obvious to me that appearently LaVar is not one of those players. I don't know what type packages or situations where LaVar should, or could be utilized, but just from observation thus far this season he "has not" been effective rushing the passer from the DE position. It's asking a lot of him to continue taking on OT who outweigh him by 50-60 lbs. From what I have observed so far it's not likely he'll draw a double team trying to bull-rush most OT's. JG benched Brunell with his 43 mil contract, so I don't think it's about the money.
