Yeah, it's funny because the guy Montgomery was most often compared to was AH both in terms of talent and work ethic.

But Montgomery had very high hopes for himself, often....emphasis on "high"...and some players can do that and do their jobs, while others get cut

Ahh that was the problem huh? Or at least a contributing factor.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Former OKST and Oakland Raiders coach Pat Jones has a radio show here in OKC and he said earlier today that from what he has heard through his sources, SF,and WSH plan on taking a QB in the first round of this draft. He has also mentioned Seattle being rumored as a possible team to move into the top 10 to take a QB. Again this is a former coach in the NFL who is usually pretty good on his predictions.

At this point I think Gabbert goes first then Cam, If we want Locker at 10 I think he will be there.

It's so unpredictable right now with the labor mess, and add to that Shanallenahan's natural secrecy, that no one can say with any definitiveness what's happening.

That said, here are some rumors

-Want a veteran RB to share the load with Portis
-Want Sidney Rice
-Want Davin Joseph and if JB asks for too much, Ryan Harris
-Rogers is asking for a lot of money. They've been close to an agreement, then not so close, then close again, then not so close. I think ultimately he stays. But that's just my guess
-Keep hearing Quinn at #10, and maybe look to trade into the 1st for Locker late if he slips. Or possibly trade down and get Locker (or another QB: Ponder, McElroy often mentioned). Either way, not really hearing much about Locker at #10 itself. Personally, I think if they want Locker they'd be taking a pretty big gamble by waiting too far down the 1st round

Still, it's so unpredictable right now because teams don't know if they can even act on free agency

I'm curious if Jenkins or Woody would be considered?

Sidenote: I had mentioned a while back that we planned on bringing Matt Bowen back for a follow-up Q&A following the combine. We're going to put that on hold and (hopefully) will have surprise Q&A. I won't say who it is. It won't be a instantly recognizable name. But it's someone who really knows the business and spent time in a key role with the Redskins. It will be different from the usual player Q&As. We've spoken a bit recently, and I think you'll enjoy this one

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Great info SS I would love that draft scenario but I'm worried locker won't fall that far.. So what about ATV? Is he in the plans?

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

ATV's definitely in the plans. Just not likely to be the lone main back

SS: I don't distrust what you have been saying, I'm just wondering where and how you have been getting your inside information. Personally, I hope everything you've stated pans out correctly.

I did a favor for a guy in the back of a parking lot...does anyone have any Scope?

No but seriously, years of working "in the biz" provide me with certain access and sources, that I don't reveal. But while I may be privy to more info than many others, I probably get access to about 50% (if that) of what's happening. All of us "in the biz" do. Of course, it was much easier when I actually directly involved with the team (not an employee) and before Shanahan came along.

But anyway, I just tell you what I hear. Sometimes my info is accurate (Ladell Betts re-signing, not going after Peppers, trading for J Brown, signing Grossman and Torain, trading Campbell, etc.); sometimes the situation changes (Dansby, Antonio Bryant, etc.); and sometimes I'm just flat wrong (throwing a lot of money at Sproles, not trading for McNabb, Steelers not franchising Woodley, etc.). When I'm wrong, I'll tell you. I won't spin it like some other insiders out there.

Well, I'm glad we have you as a source on this board.
