It pulled him even because republicans dont have a choice. He is feeding off of our fears and desires and simply saying what the mindless masses want to hear. Fuck muslims. Fuck mexicans. Yes unfortunately racism is alive n well in this country. You should care greatly about how his campaign is run because if he cant run it how in the hell will he run a country? None of us know exactly what happened with hillarys emails but i know two things for sure : she is not going to ever use her personal device again, and she certainly did not want any Americans to die. Though that is what people want to believe. Point is she can and has learned that lesson. It is not nearly as easy for someone to learn not to insult or spout off at the mouth. Its tangibles vs intangibles. |

Re: Republican nominee for President
If you look at Donald Trump in the sense of a man who understands how to manipulate the modern citizenry, by playing to the mass appeal of the day, I think he follows the role of Ronald Reagan. now stop. Conservatives, take a breath, don't cry or bemoan my demeaning of your iconic figure because you think I am saying Trump equals Reagan in his Republican hey day. Liberals, likewise don't smirk or laugh at the notion of Trump as an ideologue.
No, the point I am making is that Reagan was an Actor, he understood how to appeal to the people on levels outside of the realm of a pure politician. He used that skill to make strong connections that defied the political pundits of the day. Likewise, Trump is nothing if not a showman. He knew the keys to push to win the groups he targeted, and he also knew how much it took to win. I see him doing a huge pivot in his speech tonight, certainly we will hear of Hillary's moral bankruptcy and general ineptness as a leader, but I expect that tonight will be the first speech that Trump makes that targets a national, not Republican primary voters, audience. And in that, I really expect him to, in today's flash and glitz style, capture the appeal of those who have heard only the liberal media's constant maligning of him. I could be wrong, BUT if Reagan were on stage today, he would #connect with those who felt disillusioned by the politically corrupt and incompetent leaders of both parties. Not much has been made that I have seen, but it is to me refreshing that the Bush/Romney part of the Republican party is a no show at this convention. It is refreshing that Wall Street is sitting this one out, that the invited speakers are folks that worked up the ladder (ie Scott Baio), not spoon fed status seekers. |

If you think she won't skirt the rules to do what she wants, wait until she makes an executive action (phone and a pen type stuff) because she doesn't think the rules apply to her. It's not that she wanted or didn't want people to die, it's that their lives were second to the political expediency of the minute. You want to trust the lives of our soldiers to a president who sees them as expedient measures for their political whims. Let me tell you, I served from 91 to 95 as an MP in Nurnberg Germany, and under Pres B Clinton, my company was called up to go to Somalia and Bosnia, because of my rotations I didn't go to either but the discord of going for what was widely perceived to be politically motivated missions was tangible. Hillary Clinton lives and breathes as a political creature. My tinfoil hat, thinks that House of Cards is a biographical sketch of Bill and Hillary Clinton, with Claire Underwood as a much better looking first lady. I don't know what on this planet makes anyone think Hillary Clinton learned any lessons from the Benghazi/Email issues, other than: a) how to be a better deceiver b) that if she lies enough her actions won't have consequences c) wields her political influence enough she can do anything regardless of legal or moral restrictions. |

The biggest problem with the plagiarism is that they had another speech given to them months in advance (written by two guys who wrote for GWB) but seems Melania and crew decided to scrap it and go on their own. I think that tells you if they aren't willing to listen to people who've been there and done that, then why do you think they'll listen to their cabinet heads or other professional advice.

Re: Republican nominee for President
I'm sorry.....watching Ivanka? You gotta go for DT. If not, you get to spend the next couple years looking at the Hill! I heard her charitably described as "Stalin's Housemade".
close enough
