In the 18 months of the FBI's most recent statistical compilation ( 1/14 - 6/15) the murder rate is up:

~10% in cities with over 1,000,000 population.
~12% in cities between 500K - 999K
~8% in cities of 250K-499K
~17% in cities of less than 10K

but you're probably right, I am certain the last year has reversed that trend.

Deadliest year in Baltimore history ends with 344 homicides - Baltimore Sun

... or, then again, maybe not.

Baltimore is currently at 164 murders - which is on pace to surpass 300 by the end of the year. In all of 2014, the number was 211.

All true...but over the last 20 years crime has dropped. But the pockets of violence remain mostly in liberal dominated cities of Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago with a history of dem policies and poverty pimps within the communities and local governments. Billions of tax dollars have been squandered.

That's why the gun control argument has zero validity...we aren't a crime ridden country, we are just a country who constantly over sensationalize specific events like mass shootings. It's not the availability of guns, buts it's the over coverage of the event.

It would be difficult to imagine...Who, if asked in this world feels safer than they did even a couple years ago....
Certainly nobody in the western world. To many things blowing up...
Check that.....hmmmmm, maybe like in Syria? THEY might feel safer? All their top shelf terrorists are probably committed in other parts of the world...blowing them up? Right?
Or...maybe they're just to damned tired to blow up Syria from having to blow up the rest of the world?

Across the world is literally on fire. I would not step foot in South America, central America, Africa, Middle East, most parts of Asia, Russia, Ex Soviet bloc and even some parts of Europe.

Obama, Hillary, Kerry, and the State Department are 100% responsible for most of it.

Everyday be thankful to wake up in the United States.

Munich shooting: Several killed at shopping mall, report says - CNN.com

You don't have to go to Syria to get blown up, the terrorist these days make house calls. This shit has to end. We've allowed Syria/Iraq to become a staging grounds for terrorist attacks across the world.

So if we take your premise that we are safer and combine that with stats from your same report that shows gun sales have gone up by more than half I imagine that means you are not in favor of stricter gun laws? I mean its a safer world and more people are legally purchasing and carrying guns so we should be good right?

Re: Republican nominee for President

fear mongering and bleak outlook usually doesn't win elections. The Dems will jump all over this and exploit it. I think there is strong advantage to having the 2nd convention.

I think generally people in the country are not happy with where the country is going but Trump isn't giving them a vision for an alternative.

At least 3 dead in shooting at Munich shopping center
Quote:
Police declared an "acute terrorist situation" Friday in Munich and shut down traffic and rail service in the southern German city to search for as many as three gunmen who went on a shooting rampage at a shopping mall, killing at least eight people.

Police said a ninth body was found at the scene of the attack and authorities were investigating whether it belonged to an attacker.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Kyara Newell, who died Thursday morning after being shot while riding in a car early Wednesday in the Rogers Park neighborhood.
At 12:24 a.m. Wednesday, the 26-year-old Newell was the passenger in a vehicle driving southbound in the 2300 block of West Arthur when two males on the sidewalk nearby opened fire, authorities said.

Quote:
From 1993 to 2012, the percentage of Russian elites agreeing that military force “will always ultimately decide everything in international relations” rose consistently, almost tripling from 13 percent in 1993 to 35.8 percent in 2012. That increase has continued even more dramatically, so that 52.9 percent of Russian elites now say that they believe military force is decisive. That’s a majority, for the first time.
