Re: Obama Care
What did our grandparents do when something happened to them? They leaned on each other. Governments come and go, families and friends are the ultimate safety net.
One: Let people buy health insurance over state lines. Hell, let Americans buy foreign insurance if they want. You want choices right? Two: We as the citizenry don't have to let corporations keep their charters. If they're found to be price gouging, revoke them. Three: Bust the trusts. Four: Stop running the dollar into the ground. If our dollars were worth more, then you could buy more health insurance. Maybe doctors would come to see the sick again instead of vice versa. My doctor takes cold hard cash. That's all that I have. It baffles me how many people place their faith in government. You want to talk about the quality of life. Governments are the leading cause of unnatural death throughout human history. Remember Iraq, Vietnam, Cash for Clunkers, Social Security? That's the government hard at work. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. If you need some money for your gal, kids, or whatever; send me a PM. I'll give you all that I can. When you get the government to take it from me without my consent, you're just a thief. That's what it boils down to IMO, no matter how many good intentions or how much self-justification is presented.

Re: Obama Care
The system is seriously flawed. I hope everyone can at least agree on that.
People shouldn't have to go into serious debt over a medical condition that is out of their control. Shameful indeed. |

Re: Obama Care
Is it really too much to ask for a functional & affordable health care system for all? Is that too much to expect from this great nation??

Re: Obama Care
Sure. Pull out the troops from all over the globe. Fix SS, Medicaid, and Medicare. Oh, and take care of that pesky looming insolvency issue too. Then we can talk.

Re: Obama Care
Well I was taking a break from working on the boat and was checking to see if bribe care has been voted on yet. I guess hey are still bribing people for some more votes.
For the ones who think its the insurance companies that are the biggest problem here you really need to look at the numbers. The insurance companies average a profit of around 2.5 to 6.5 %. So if the companies reduced premiums so they could break even in the best case it would save a family 65 dollars a month if they are paying a 1,000 per month. Sorry that not going to fix anything and all these mandates they are going to add will only increase health ins. The facts are is that the goverment will make this worse which I think is their goal just so they can force us into goverment health care. This whole debate has nothing to do with health care it has to do with gaining power. |

Re: Obama Care
The sight of Pelosi walking around with that oversized gavel and that botox smile makes me shudder. I'm gonna puke if they get their 217.

Blue Cross executives' compensation soars as controversy rages over health insurance premium increases
By: Mike Colias March 15, 2010 Executives at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois' corporate parent pocketed big bonuses last year, as more people lost health insurance and rising premiums put insurers at the center of a political maelstrom. Patricia Hemingway Hall, CEO of Health Care Service Corp., saw her total compensation jump 62% in 2009, to $8.7 million, according to a recent company regulatory filing. Predecessor Ray McCaskey's $15.7-million payment was bonus compensation built up in the years preceding his 2008 retirement. He served as CEO of the Chicago-based holding company for Blue Cross plans in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for 16 years. All of the non-profit insurer's top 10 executives saw total compensation jump at least 48% — it more than doubled for six of them — thanks to large bonuses. The company revised its bonus program "to reflect current market-competitive talent practices," according to a statement. It pegs bonuses to goals for membership and earnings growth, and for keeping a lid on administrative costs. "To manage a business of this size and complexity, our compensation must be competitive to attract the industry's best and brightest," the company says.
