You are absolutely right...i really do not care if Portis comes back and he gets 20+ touches a game brunell gets like maybe 20 attempts throws for 150-180 yards....as long as either one of them get in the end zone!!!..

Im thinking we throw Portis in there give him like 20 carries maybe betts like 5 and duckett 5...then put campbell in and give him 15-20 attempts a game....cant hurt can it? kind of like what SD is doing...

That's a false option - you're focusing on the results of a single game, whereas they are talking about statistics that are most likely to lead to wins. I'll take the touchdowns, thank you, because, week in and week out, that gives us the best chance to win each week.

but then again...we dont have Phillip Rivers....But we need portis back.....i think this would work with either Brunell or Campbell....SD has rushed 85 times and passed 47 completing 33 for 2 TD's...........

Brunell has gone somewhere between 150-200 pass attempts since his last throwing TD (this includes preseason)

Pretty eye opening when you really think about it.

Re: Time to bench Brunell? (Mega Man Merge)

I dont want to read thru this entire thread, has anybody posted what was said in espn insider about brunell?
ESPN.com - INSIDER - Seth Wickersham Blog

No QB, not even Chris Simms, is under attack as much recently as Mark Brunell. He turned 36 on Sunday and received these types of birthday presents this week:
From The Washington Times: "As it was said of Stu Miller, Brunell has three speeds: slow, slower and slowest. In Brunell's case, that comes out to the dump-off pass, the underneath pass and the dink pass, none intended to spread the defense. On the rare occasion that Brunell tries to throw deep, the pass ends up packing all the velocity of a high, lazy punt. A defender sometimes finds himself circling under the ball, miffed only because the rules do not allow him to call a fair catch."

Re: Time to bench Brunell? (Mega Man Merge)

lets see what he does with clinton portis back in the lineup before we give him the hook. Bench Brunnell for who Todd "I dont start games for a reason" Collins or Jason " I have no experience" Campbell? Seems like a no brainer if we have aspirations of the playoffs. Mark Brunell is the only viable option. Lose a couple more and then yes I think Campbell needs to play.

Re: Time to bench Brunell? (Mega Man Merge)

Quick observation though...anyone besides me think Brunnell maybe injured? His play thus far is looking real similar to his first year here when he was injured and no one really knew about it.

Why? He was on the field against vanilla defenses. Either way -- he didnt throw many balls this preseason, still been a long damn time.

That is no excuse & if he is injured he should sit his own ass down & let Campbell learn the new offense.

I've been a Skins fans since '82 & know when a guys had enough chances to succeed & fail & MB has earned a seat on the bench.

Houston is the perfect team to get Campbell in there w/o getting his head knocked off.

Re: Time to bench Brunell? (Mega Man Merge)

I really don't think he's injured.

Besides, it's not like he's the only one playing like crap. The OL has stunk, the running game has stunk, his play is just a reflection of what's going on around him.

Re: Time to bench Brunell? (Mega Man Merge)

Based on the title of this thread, I think the clear solution is to start Mega Man and his rocket arm
