Right now Lovie smith is the only available head coaching candidate that I think can actually do better than Shanahan here. I hope we can get him somehow.

Im personally just as lost on the Lovie Smith HC angle as much as your disdain for the greatest offensive weapon since "the posse" and "the hogs" era in DC.

Rich Tandler posted this on FB
So, the popular narrative is that the Redskins won't be able to find a good coach because they have been unstable at the position since Snyder has owned the team. But it must be noted that since 1999 the Redskins have had six coaches not counting 3-game interim Terry Robiskie. The Cowboys have had five; so have the Lions (plus two interims). Is there any talk that those teams won't be able to find a coach if they decide to make a move? And don't tell me Snyder meddles and then look at Jerry Jones and say a coach would be more comfortable under him. And the Ford family does zip. Head coach of the Redskins might not be the ideal job. But most of the ideal jobs aren't open and aren't going to open. The Redskins have a potential star QB in Robert Griffin III, a decent amount of cap room this year and a pretty well set up for the cap going forward, and an owner who will spend. Is the Vikings job better with Adrian Peterson perhaps slowing down with a ton of money left on his contract and no solution to the QB position on the roster? How about the Jets with their QB mess and circus atmosphere that makes DC look tame? The Redskins job is not for everyone. Evidently Tony Dungy isn't interested but nobody really asked him, either. Some will think that other options are better. But even though it may not be the plum job of the NFL, it's better than others that will be open. I think people will be surprised at the amount of interest there is in the job. |

How good is the job? Well, to start with, there are only 32 NFL Head Coach jobs in the entire world! Only a small percentage of those jobs come open each year and the pool of jobs is more attractive in some years than in others. This year, most of the job openings are not going to be very attractive, IMO. So, relatively speaking, the Redskins job would be more appealing this year than it would be in some other years. Because of this, I think that the Redskins will have many good candidates to choose from.

People have brought up the name Art Briles, who is to say that maybe Jerry Jones targets him as his next coach and doesn't have to move from Texas. Wouldn't surprise me.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
He was gone if Romo didn't make those annoying plays at the end of our game(at least that's my understanding), if they lose to the Eagles there is no way Garrett returns. I really am not sure a 9-7 playoff berth keeps him if they don't win the playoff game.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
So RG3 is now stubborn and arrogant?
The guy doesn't want to run the read option and would rather develop in to a pocket QB like all the fans want him to, so that makes him stubborn? He's not pulling Falco and changing the plays called. Head Coach and QB don't see eye to eye on some issues, so that makes the QB stubborn? You do realize that the head coach he might disagree with is 23-34 or something in Washington? Just baffles me that people can label a guy arrogant and stubborn because he's done a few subway commercials.

If they lose to the Eagles it is with Romo on the sideline though and that to might save his job. He is a perfect little yes man for Jerry.

I'm on the Bill O'Brien buss with Rex Ryan or Ken Norton Jr. as DC. It's time for Snyder to spend his money on creating a star coach.
