Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
At this time the dance is just beginning. It's obvious nobody in the media know anything. Schefter's silence speaks volumes. I still say it gets done.

@AdamSchefter Kirk Cousins is not expected to sign a long-term deal by Monday’s deadline, but is open to doing deal with team after season, per source.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
The problem with losing cousins isn't so much losing but the drop off of talent below him. If he is level 7 say, the next available level is 4 currently in the NFL. This league really is hurting with quality of qp play.

I agree. Thing is the major college programs have to really simplify their offensive schemes for the boneheads that they recruit or the system just won't work in the NFL where the speed between the offense and defense are at a parity.

I don't think the dropoff between Kirk and Colt is drastic. We could still win games with Colt in there.

But with Kirk Cousins and just an average defense, we can do a LOT more than win games! Even with our redzone issues and kicker who had a pretty awful year, we were 12th in scoring! With an improved defense and a taller receiver group, we are not just about winning some games... if we keep KC.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Deal doesn't go through draft the kid from Wyoming with our first round pick, even if we have to trade up. If Kirk doesn't take the deal or one is not offered he will bolt. One good thing about 2017 is he will try to play lights out to sweeten the deal he will get after it is all said and done. If no deal is done, I say he most likely bolts regardless of what we offer him.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
IF we cant sign I'd trade him for the highest pick we can get. Sure we'd not not win as many games but at least we'd something for him instead of nothing....

Sure we could win some games with Colt, but his limitations would get exposed over the long haul and the guy has trouble staying healthy. Kirk >> Colt all day long.

Does the Nate Sudfeld era begin at 4:01 tomorrow?

Colt = Noodle Arm. With him at QB, the deep passing game goes away.
