Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State
While we're talking about changes in State College, they need to change their uniforms now.
Paterno INSISTED on keeping the plainest-possible uniforms. No logo, no names. That look is part of his now-destroyed legacy. The statue is down, the road names are changing, lets finish the job and update their uniforms finally. Move on.

Graham Spanier wants to set record straight with Penn State Nittany Lions' Board of Trustees - ESPN
Hey guys, I don't recall a conversation about child molestation about one of the more prominent people in the state of Pennsylvania. Even though you have emails in which I was copied twice, this is no substantial proof that I knew anything. This guy would make for a great politician. Full of shit till his last breath.

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State
Apparently the Big Ten was considering removing Penn State's membership in the conference. They just decided to take the $13million/year in Bowl money instead.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Indiana Hoosiers rip them apart on the gridiron every year from now on. Looking over their schedule, they open with the Ohio Bobcats, a good team...not the usual cupcake opener. Then Virginia, Navy and Temple before the Big 10 teams. They could lose every game. I especially want Navy to blow their doors off...a program with real role models, unlike PSU.

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State
Someone on the local talk radio station just suggested the melt the bronze statue down into some kind of commemorative coins and sell them with the profits going to charity since a lot of people would want a piece of that statue.
Sounds OK aside from the sick part about selling that statue to the twisted Paterno-worshippers, even if they money will do good.

Some more well versed PSU fans articulating their displeasure. Don't these idiots know they are attaching their names to such hateful words?
"I HOPE U ALL FUCKIN DIE" And Other Reasoned, Measured Responses To The NCAA's Penn State Punishment Hope their employers find out. (or future ones)

I think the Penn State wins were vacated for one reason. To not let Joe Paterno be the winningest coach in major college football, in part by covering up what Sandusky was doing. LINK With the NCAA sanctions eliminating 111 wins from Penn State between 1998 and 2011, Joe Paterno is no longer the winningest coach in major college football -- a title he received just 10 days before he was fired in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Paterno, with 298 wins, is now below Florida State's Bobby Bowden, Alabama's Bear Bryant, Glenn Warner and several others. Paterno is now 12th on the list of all coaches in all football divisions. The punishment fits the crime. Paterno helped cover Sandusky's crimes to protect the football program. Those wins should be taken away. As to the current Penn State players, they can transfer without penalty. Yes it still sucks for them. They trusted Penn State. At least they weren't treated as bad as kids that also trusted Penn State, though the current (and later former) assistant coach allowed to bring the kids on campus for his aims. That's where the focus should be, about who was hurt most by trusting Penn State. I agree the football program and administrators haven't been punished enough. |

Feel bad for the innocent people who were there just trying to get an education but i have a real issue with anyone who is protesting the NCAA's decision or the school's decision to remove the Joe Paterno statue.

Lol. To steal a line from Ron Burgundy, you stay classy (Penn State). This will obviously help solidify our opinion of them. |

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State
While obviously there needed to be a heavy penalty, I feel sorry for the players over this 14 year period that now suddenly never happened according to the record book. Some players are rightfully pissed off that the blood and sweat they gave up for the university and subsequently the NCAA to make millions of dollars, now meant nothing because of the faults of a handful of people. Punishing those not involved just doesn't seem fair whatsoever. Just alter the record book in regards to JP. I truly feel sorry for the poor boys who had their lives forever changed by a monster and those who didn't fight hard enough for the right thing to be done, but these other boys shouldn't be punished as well. This whole situation sucks and there was never going to be a "right way" for this to get made right.

Besides it's really not punitive to take those wins away. Pedo State University football recruiting benefited from Sandusky being illegally protected. Therefore PSU does not deserve those wins. |
