Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

Well supposedly D-Jax stood up in locker room and told the team the loss was on him. That accountability is a nice surprise at least.

I am so torn on the guy. He is one of those players that you want on your team but also don't want to have to rely on. The question is do you get enough output from him to make up for the times he seems to disappear from games. I remember the big knock on him in Philly was that he could be electric for a quarter or even a half, but then would silent after that.

He definitely has made some big plays for us, but overall I thought we would get more out of him than the 1 deep catch a game he seems to make. Maybe this is more on the coaches as they don't seem to design much for him. When you have a player like Jackson you really should be drawing up specific "Jackson plays" where you make sure the ball is in his hand after the snap and let him go to work. Sort of similar to that quick end around hand off Dallas ran with that one WR a couple times. That difference making speed is great to watch when it is on display but I wish we saw it happen with the ball in his hands more often.

As am watching the replay on Jackson's fumble and went to his hand hits the ground and he fumbles, isn't that the ground causing a fumble? I thought the ground could not cause a fumble?

I thought the same thing and after the game Steve Young and them i believe said the same thing. But during the review the official in the booth did not mention it? Either way that is a result of running backwards like a jackass and throwing the game away just to make a big play.

I thought the same thing. Ray Lewis said following the game "I am not sure how he wasn't ruled down"

I can understand calling it a fumble live, but the replay clearly showed his wrist and hand down with the ball secure, and then the ball comes loose when his hand bounces off ground. I think the only way that would be a legit fumble is if they say he was untouched by a defender at that point.

Anyone also boggled why Hopkins wasn't able to kick it out of the back of the endzone after the Jackson TD? He was so good for most the game, but the missed FG and not kicking a touchback on that final kickoff were back breaking as well.

Am I the only one that thought we would have had a 50/50 shot to win if our kick coverage had done their job at the end? D.Jax redeemed himself. All we had to do was cover the kick and force OT, then we would have had even odds to win. Idk how many times it has to be said but players have to stay in their lines on kick returns. Undisciplined ST cost us the game at the end.

I was thinking more like 75/25. We would have had all the momentum considering the td drive.

Hrm, I think it still falls on Jackson in the end though. If he doesn't dick around with that punt, we have a chance to at WORST go to OT. At best, we take enough time off the clock to kick a FG.

Agreed it was a shit call by the ST coach, but it shouldn't have come to that.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

I don't really agree with the notion that Jackson "redeemed" himself. To me his fumble hurt us more than his TD helped us because the fumble was a bigger swing of the game. The Cowboys had only sniffed the red zone one other time in the game. If Jackson just runs forward and ends up at 30 yard line, we have the ball with just over 2 mins to go and if we end up getting a FG opportunity on THAT drive we likely do it as time expires. Game over.

Instead we were put against the 8 ball and Jackson's TD merely gave us some late game hope.

I was wondering on that play too. Clearly the ball comes out by once of the ground and I thought the ground can't cause a fumble. But if he isn't down and is only going to ground by contact and the ball is knocked loose is that a fumble. I Don't think it is.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

5-7 teams make plays like giving up a back breaking 45 yard return after tying it up. If we don't get a touchback it's literally pins and needles on the return. And they fucked it up tonight. And it was no surprise.

We still miss too many plays and give up too many to win often. Such as why we literally can't win 2 weeks in a row.

This loss was just absolutely terrible and there are no excuses for it. Could've gone in to next week looking to get over .500. Now, at best 6-7. I'm so pissed off still.

Yep. I was trying to explain earlier today in another thread that just because the 'Skins fell into 1st place for a week it shouldn't change the reality that we were a mediocre 5-6 team, it just happens that the rest of the division is too. The fact is the team plays like a .500/sub-.500 team. They don't have the talent of Dallas.

It's a rebuilding year and even though winning the division would be nice, we can't lose sight of the big picture, and 5-7 is about on track as far as what a lot of people were hoping for before the season started.

I was hoping for 8-8. Gonna be tough now. But 5-7 sounds better for us in terms of progress if you didn't watch all the games. Feels like we give some away. But again that's cause we're a 5-7 team. You are what your record is. Hope Scott nails this next draft.
