. In all seriousness, even in Gibbs day we didn't win multiple playoff games every year, but we were always competitive and had a shot, and I think that's what Shanahan brings. Plus, we have a much better D for the next 3-5 years at least than Shanahan ever did. The main thing, is that it is a return to NFL normalcy and a hopeful indication that DS is learning to be a good owner and not as meddlesome. |

I don't like this...this just means Shanahan is going to be gunning for a QB with the first pick and we will have to wait at least 2 more years for a contender. Thoughts?

As of this moment, i'd break the odds down this way on who our starting QB will be in 2010: Jason Campbell - 50% Matt Leinhart - 40% Rookie QB or Veteran QB while our 1st round QB is groomed - 10% One other thing to keep in mind is that Mike Shanahan (who, make no mistake, would be running the show here - Allen would just deal with the details, paperwork, etc.) has always been shrewd when it comes to trades. He values his draft picks and will drive a hard bargain, whereas Snyderatto was always more than willing to throw in a little extra to "sweeten the pot" and get a deal done. I don't expect us to get "the short end of the stick" in trades going forward.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
After reading a few articles yesterday about this process, its looking more and more like Shanahan was asked what it would take to get him hired and he said get rid of Vinny.
Many of the other GM's that saw and talked to Vinny at the NFL meetings late last week said Vinny was not aware of any changes. He was scouting and preparing for the draft. That does not sound like a guy getting ready to quit. The fact that he went to the meetings is a sign that he was out of the loop. Plus throw his childish disrespectful slap at Zorn during his exit speech and that is a sign of a guy that is not happy about this move. |

I actually read it somewhere on this site. it was just a rumor and I indicated it was a rumor.

Carolina would have to pay 6 million to get rid of Fox and their GM. It seems very doubtful that they will do this. And I think the Cowher to Carolina buzz has been pretty quiet lately.

As I live in Raleigh and 90% of everyone i know is a panthers fan, i know everyone's hoping he comes to Carolina. As long as he doesn't go to Dallass, i'm happy.

So do you think they realistic going to get rid of Fox given the buyout situation? Just curious.

At this point, i think Shanahan's coming here, Cowher's going to Carolina, and Gruden (despite the current contract situation) is going to Dallas. Watch me be wrong on all 3 counts.

BTW, JLC is going to be on ESPN980 within the next hour or so. Should be very interesting to see what his sources are telling him now.
