first, "fast as hell" from your last post - he's one of the slowest DEs in day one, a rocking 4.8 @ 250 pounds... mario williams has 50lbs and 1/10 on him. LBs bigger than him (260lbs) have 2/10ths on him.

I watched the ssenior bowl and practices, he didn't abuse anyone and whitehurst was able to gain ground on him while he tried to chase whitey down from behind. he had ALL game cause MK was injured and did nothing, even though he got twice the time. I don't remember a single announcement about him abusing Db'F, though Db did have a single slip up in the game, tapp wasn't the guy at the other end.

he ended the game with 2 assisted tackles and no other stats with double minutes. that's hardly impressive.
Tapp abused D'Brickashaw in the Uva/Tech game this year, but it was a 52-17 blowout by VT, so Tapp got to tee off since uva was in passing situations for much of the game. He definitely beat him off the ball, bull rushed and speed rushed him numerous times.
Tapp isn't "fast as hell" but we must distinguish between straight away speed & quickness. Tapp is awfully quick, gets off the ball really well & has good moves. He's not quite of the talent level that gets taken in the first round, but he's a good "character" guy & we'd be lucky to get him at #53. I don't see him lasting that long. If he's around & he's higher on our board than any LBs or CBs I say take him. Not just because I'm a Hokie, Daniels & Wynn are old, and Evans is solid but doesn't have the explosiveness.
Tapp's downside is his size, no pun intended. He may be weak against the run in the nfl.

I honestly want Cromartie if we can put ourselves in the position to draft him.

I say trade down if possible , than we can draft a DL and a Db . Anybody think Allen , DB from Tenn. falls to 53 ? He is big fast , 4.39 40 , and he can play corner and safety ? If we can not trade down we should make a move to get a pick in the 3rd or 4th rd . Oh and lets see if we can get Gibbs to get all of us tickets to the cowboy's game so we can see an ass whiping live !

allen is like a mid first round pick. If we trade down, its probably OLB/4.4 CB/possibly an athletic OG...

This would be too good to be true.

Re: ESPN Mock Draft concerning the Redskins

there's no way we take brooks if gibbs cares about character at all...

We're also taking LB or CB in the 2nd, or a slim chance of OG/TE, but we haven't even looked at any DL guys that high. Maxey is rated as a 3rd-4th rounder right now. McQuistan as a 4th, golston as a 4th-5th, nincovich as a 4th-5th, and mix as a 5th-6th. there's no way all 5 drop an entire round each.

Re: ESPN Mock Draft concerning the Redskins

The only way we draft Brooks would be a 5th rd pick , we have no 4th rd pick in 07 < Loyd > . The only Cb we might take at 53 is Griffin , Texas , because he can play safety . We have 5 Cb's on the roster only 3 safeties and Taylor could be out this year ?

Re: ESPN Mock Draft concerning the Redskins

If tapp is there we should take him. Btw, some are projecting Tapp AS an OLB (albeit in a 3-4).

I've been hoping we draft LB in the 2nd because we will get good value there due to the quality of LB depth in the draft, but the more I think about it since we don't have a 3rd rnd pick we should probably go with a CB at #2. Maybe we can get a solid LB later since ther are so many of them.

We will have a much harder time hiding a weakness at CB next year (especially if a starter gets injured - knock on wood) than LB. We have a good chance that someone already on our roster can step up and fill the need at LB.

Just picture how quickly our entire season would go down the tubes if Springs gets injured (knocking on wood again). We are too solid of a contender to hinge it all on one player staying healthy. Draft CB @ #2. Cromartie does have a nice value at that slot but also is a risk. Maybe a Demario Minter?

Re: ESPN Mock Draft concerning the Redskins

tapp would have the problem carter had, too slow for OLB. More people are projecting him at DE and DT (if he bulks up).
