Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
moss,el,loyd, patten and thrash. there u have it. the final cut. jacobs is truly wasting time and space at this point.he really let me down. i had alot faith in him, and he does look great at camp, but the guy is soft on game day. tj had every chance last season to prove he belongs here. he did as much as i did for the passing game last year.as a matter of fact, i probaly did MORE than him.

Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
Taylor Hicks has a better chance of being a Redskin than Jacobs.
Seriously though, there's just no place for TJ anymore.

Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
Pardon my ignorance, as i do not know who Taylor Hicks is. And for all I know Taylor Hicks is a female. But one thing I do know, whoever Taylor Hicks is, TAFKAS your right on the money!

Let me rephrase it. Taylor Jacobs has a better chance of being the next American Idol than he does of winning a roster spot on the Redskins

The problem with Brunell is not confidance in his recievers particularly Jacobs, but Brunell wont take the hit any longer, that was the knock on him when the Jags were about to cut him, he is afraid to be hit at this stage of his career, so all he does is looks for his primary [Moss] if he's covered it's Cooley or throw it away, he wont hang in there to go to a 3rd or 4th WR. Jacobs hasen't helped himself by not being able to stay on the field but I do think he has a lot lot more to offer other than what we have seen up till now. |

Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
David Patten can add a lot as a receiver if healthy, and he is excited and eager to compete with his younger teammates. He adds experience which can be helpful in different ways as well. Patten will make the team ostensibly as the 5th receiver.
James Thrash is a very fine person with an outstanding work ethic. However, his time is coming to an end as a professional football player in my view. He could catch on with another team, but unless we keep 6 wide receivers, it is not likely to be with the Redskins. Taylor Jacobs has a lot of talent, but has been apparently unable to establish self-confidence on the field in games. Perhaps the shock of being cut will motivate him to overcome this problem on another team. But there really is no place for a player who has struggled so much at a position where we are suddenly one of the most talented in the NFL at. |

That Jacobs has hung on this long is more a statement as to our lack of WR depth in the past than to his talent.

Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
Many guys here keep talking about TJ's raw talent and potential. I agree that he has these things. What he doesn't have is the heart. His fatal flaw seems to be that he waits for the ball instead of taking ownership while it is in the air. That is a very hard thing to coach out of someone.
The question is if Saunders thinks he can push him to the next level.

I'd say it's hard to hang in the pocket for your 3rd and 4th option when those options are the likes of Taylor Jacobs and Jimmy Farris. We didn't have any depth at WR last year, it was Moss and then Cooley as the main options. This year there will be no excuses. If Brunell is still throwing it away after looking at just his first two reads I'll buy this notion that he's scared to take a hit. Until then, my take is he was doing what he was asked to do and was limited by the lack of depth at WR. |

The problem is with that argument is there are comments from others on this board who attended the games [daseal] who have stated that Jacobs was getting open but Brunell would never look his way, and for all the Patten fans out there they were all wondering what was wrong with him before he went down because he wasen't producing as he was in New England, and that includes Patten himself, funny how a 3 time SB champ and a big play reciver for those teams was doing nothing other than a decoy for Moss. There was a reason Patten was voicing his disapointment before he was injured, you can't step up and become a second option reciever if the QB doesn't look your way, it's Moss then check down to the short route in Cooley, Brunell not only wants to get rid of the ball immediatly so he wont be hit, he doesn't have the arm to legitimatly get the ball downfield, once the reciever gets a certain distance he has to put to much air under the ball which allows to much recovery time for the defense. But Saunders might be the biggest plus for Brunell, he uses timing Patterns in which the QB will throw to a spot before the reciever reveals his break which is very difficult to defend and if Brunell is smart enough this offense will allow him to get rid of the ball quicker. But he will still have to hang in the pocket for the second and third options is he willing to do that at this stage of his career? A reciever can not alway's be blamed for lack of production, team concept, and a legitamate QB are also a major factor, Moss is case and point, living here in jersey I follwed his career and when we traded for him I said the jets didn't know what they had because Pennington couldn't reach the guy with that rag arm of his, did anyone see Moss having the kind of season he had for us? I know the Jets didn't. |

Re: Will T. Jacobs Be Cut ?
Can Jacobs kick off?
If so, he has a place on the team. Not as a receiver though... |
