Re: Sportscenter final 4 agree or not?

our these guys serious with this prognatication this early? there are to many variables in the nfl to take this espn depth chart seriously. all it did at least for me was get me hyped for the season and get me signing up for fantasy football. does anyone besides me remember what the "espn gods" said about our skins last season...they picked us to finish last in the division and not make the playoffs. correct me if i am wrong....didnt the skins win a playoff game last year? i think we did.

If you look at the rest of that division they match up nicely with everyone on a skill level. My playoff picks for the AFC are:

AFC
East: Dolphins (They got some pretty good tools on both sides of the ball)
North: Bengals (They were better than the Steelers until Palmer got hurt)
South: Colts (This shouldn't be too hard for them)
West: Chiefs (See comments above)
Wildcards: Broncos, Patriots

NFC
East: Redskins (If I have to give a reason then get off this board)
North: Minnesota (I think the Bears were very lucky last year)
South: Falcons (they're not as bad as most people think)
West: Seahawks (someone has to win that division)
Wildcards: Chicago, Giants
Yours was the closest to my picks so im going to use your format.

AFC
East: Dolphins - The team to beat in this division, other than Brady I dont like the Pats offense this year.
[B]North: Steelers /B] - I think the Bengals will struggle until they get Palmer back
South: Colts - who else is in this division? lol
West: Broncos - I dont think the chiefs will win 8 games under their new coach and same defense
Wildcards: Jacksonville, New England - I picked these two because they have the privledge of being in shitty divisions.

NFC
East: Redskins - The coaches will bring the most out of what players that are already near the tops of their respective positions
North: Minnesota - They have a lot of talent and perhaps now a coach that isnt absolutly horrible
South: Falcons - I think their defense is better than Tampa or Carolina, and their offense is definitly better
West: Seahawks - The Cardinals still have some questions on defense
Wildcards: Carolina, Giants - the wild cards will definitly only come from those two divisions.

Gibbs seems to form his offense so that they don't rely on the quarterback. He establishes a good line, has pro bowl receivers, and his runningbacks are alwasys stellar. I never hear about gibbs putting all his resources into the quarterback.

The more I hear that our only position in question is QB the more I feel comfortable that Joe will do it again. Granted if our QB is dismal then we have a problem, but I think we'll be ok.

I'm really curious about the Chargers and how Phillip Rivers does. I hear he's been great in mini-camps and OTAs. Don't think they're going to be a top 4 team though. But they might be able to sneak into a wild card spot

I don't see why we don't have a chance against the Panthers if the 2 teams meet up. in fact the lovefest for the Panthers from the ESPN guys kind of baffles me. and I also think the Chiefs could take down a Steelers team that isn't as deep as it was last year.

Everyone thinks Carolina is an amazing team, but the Redskins can be a strong contender agaisnt them, and now our WRs are much better than Carolina's(as a whole), and we are about same on D, personally I think we are better. Only real question is the QB, but look at KC, they have Trent Green who is older than Brunell, and the system still worked for him. I think with our OL, and the new offensive system, assuming the guys pick it up quickly, Brunell would be successful against the Panthers. If Campbell were in I would not be too sure, but I'm glad he will see more pre-season time this year.

It's possible, but it's hard to see a situation where there is no drop off from Drew Brees.

I think Rivers will be fine, but he's going to have his share of struggles. Brees really came into his own the last two seasons and was playing at a Pro Bowl level. It's tough to replace that without a hitch.

I think he will eventually turn into a pretty solid QB. Percentages say about 1 in 3 first round QBs bust. It sure looks like Losman isn't ever going to be anything if he cant even beat out Kelly Holcomb. SD is a fairly favorable situation for a QB.
